Miranda POV

"Lacey, could you step outside please?" I asked gently. She looked at me and nodded, staying as far away from Blake as she could.

Blake strode in and shut the door. His jaw jutting out, I knew that he had something to say. "First off, it's not her fault. And second, I don't even get a greeting?" I asked.

He didn't say anything for a few seconds. No telling what's going on in his head.

"I'm glad you're okay." He finally said. "But?" I asked, I knew that tone well enough to know there's more to that sentence.

"I can't believe you can take her side." He snapped, surprising me. "She's just a kid. It's not like she did anything wrong! She didn't do anything to deserve this." I argued back. He just looked at me and I could tell that he wasn't buying it.

"She almost got you killed! The media is having a field day with this! They think you had her with someone else." He trailed off on the last part.

"Oh please. You don't believe that, do you?" I snapped. He didn't look at me. "Blake. Really? How long have we been married? How old is she? How long have I known her?" I almost started laughing. That's what he was so worried about? Me with other men?

"Besides. I love you both." I smiled. "I'm going to adopt Lacey. I know what you said in the past...""You can't raise a child! Especially by yourself." He argued. "Yes I can. I already have been." I argued back.

"You're not fit to by yourself! You're going to be touring and busy with Platinum! How will she go to school? Make friends? Have a normal life?" He fired at me.

"We can make it work! Like everything else." He stopped looking at me. I heard the door open and saw Kimberly walk in. "Everyone can hear y'all down the hallway." She told me without looking at Blake.

She shut the door and stepped further into the room. "Lacey is really upset." I felt that hit my chest like a bullet. "This is why it won't work. We fight. We always fight." Blake said, his voice quiet.

"Can we stop fighting for 20 seconds then? I want you to hear what I have to say. I love you Blake. I always have. Ever since we sang that duet together. I'm going to adopt her. It'll be okay." I said, Kimberly didn't say anything or break the silence. She just played with her wedding ring.

Blake didn't say anything else but shook his head. "I guess you know what you're doing." He said, slapping on a smile. His phone buzzed and he looked down. Scowling, he put his phone away.

"I have to be back. I love you. I'm so glad you're okay." "Wait. Please don't go." I begged.

"I...they can wait." He said, picking up his phone and walking outside.

Kimberly stood motionless in the back of the room, not really saying anything. The door opened and Lacey came in, looking shell shocked. "I swear if you try and run away I will duct tape you to that wall." I laughed.

Lacey looked at me and let out a startled laugh before sitting down. "I think I'm done running. Too tired." She joked back.

"Good." I closed my eyes, feeling exhausted. You would think after being in a coma I would have more energy.
