Lacey POV
The rest of the trip went great! I got to spend time with my grandparents and got to see where Miranda grew up."Ready to go?" Miranda asked me. "I think so! Thanks, grandma! Nice to finally meet you!" I said, hugging her. she grinned and hugged me back.
"Any time, dear. And I'll be back through Tennessee sometime soon to visit." She grinned. "Bye, kiddo!" My grandpa called. I ran and gave him a hug too.
"Bye mom, dad." Miranda said, putting the last thing in the bed and running to hug them. It was around 4 am.
We both climbed into the car and drove away. "I had so much fun!" I cheered. "Good, sweetie." Miranda replied with a smile.
We finally made it to Oklahoma after a few hours and we pulled up to a gate. "Lacey....stay in the car. If you hear anything crazy...." She trailed off.
"Okay." I said, leaning back in my seat. I rolled down the windows and waited.
I heard some yelling and unlocked the car door. Miranda was yelling over her shoulder while she charged towards me.
Crap. I shut my door and sat back in my seat. Miranda climbed in and slammed the door, the whole car shaking. I didn't say anything as she zoomed out of the driveway.
She looked at me and I raised my eyebrows. "He was there. With his new girlfriend. I'll have to get a moving truck and take all of my things tomorrow." She growled. I nodded but didn't reply.
"What would you like for breakfast?" She asked me. I just shrugged, trying to let her cool down for a while.
"Lacey. Look at me." Miranda said quietly. I looked at her. We were stopped on the side of a little road. "You had nothing to do with this. I won't take anything out on you. We're okay." Miranda said. She leaned over and gave me a hug.
We drove in silence for a little while, listening to songs on the radio. We finally reached Connie's Diner and Miranda pulled in. We hopped out and walked in, Miranda not wearing a cap and glasses for once.
We ordered and she grinned at me. "What?" I asked with a little laugh. "Remember the last time we had breakfast at a place like this? You spilled orange juice all over my white shirt." She laughed at me. "Oh! That's right. And I almost ran away. Almost."
"Well yeah, I thought I was going to have to staple ya to your seat!" She laughed. "Please. No more running. I'm getting old, tired, and a little cranky!" She laughed. "Hey wait a minute, I thought you were near 40, not 80!" I laughed. She playfully glared at me.
We finished our breakfast in peace, not thinking about all the craziness happening around us.
