Lacey POV
I slammed the bathroom door, how can I possibly mess up everything!? I sat on the ground below the sink and started to cry.
Before I could move, something fell and hit the sink counter, shattering into a million pieces. I shut my eyes and felt the glass shower me, cutting my skin.
I started crying even more and struggled to stand up. I laid one arm on the counter and yelped, a huge piece of glass cut my skin! I kicked glass out of the way and laid on the floor, holding my arm. I was shocked and in so much pain!
"Are you okay?" I Miranda asked, extremely concerned. I jumped and looked up at her, tears in her eyes. "I shut the door and it fell." I said quietly. Miranda carefully worked her way to me and helped me painfully stand up. "Okay, come this way." She pleaded, guiding me with her arms, gently. "But I'll get blood on you!" I said. I began to rock back and forth, still holding my arm.
"It's okay. I don't really care. I just need to make sure that you're safe." She said, going back into momma bear mode. She lead me into the kitchen and helped me sit on a barstool. I glanced at her margarita and she laughed, "Don't even think about it. That's the last thing you need." I blushed before going into a dream-like state.
I groggily opened my eyes and looked around. Great! I was in an orphanage. I slowly sat up and looked around. It was a small, boring, room with white walls, so yeah, an orphanage.
I looked down at my arm and when I saw it bandaged, it hit me. The glass, cutting me, needing stitches, Miranda helping me. Where was Miranda!? I began to panic, tears coming down my face. Did she leave me!?
The medicine that I was on made me have a foggy head. I stopped panicking when the door opened. In strolled an exhausting looking Miranda. She was holding a fluffy yellow duck and frowned when she saw me.
She switched on the light and smiled. "You're awake! Thank God." She breathed. "Yeah....I was a bit freaked out when I woke up." I admitted. "Sorry, they told me you would wake up later, not right now!" She said.
She walked toward the bed and handed me the yellow, fluffy duck. I beamed, "thank you!" It had blue overalls, a cowboy hat, and teeny tiny little cowboy boots.
"I'm glad you like it!" She said, pulling a chair up beside me. I nodded and didn't say anything. Miranda tilted her head at me, "what's wrong, Lacey Loo?"
"I'm so sorry about all of this." I said, my voice breaking. "It's okay. I didn't even like that mirror anyway." She winked at me. "But, I'd rather have a really broken mirror than a really broken Lacey." She smiled at me. I blushed and smiled from ear to ear.
We talked for a little while, I was still loopy from the medicine.
"Mrs..Shelton?" Someone asked slowly. I opened my eyes and looked around. "That's me." Miranda said. "She is ready to be released, the doctor is going to come in and give her one last check." The male nurse said, smiling down at me. "Are you her parent or guardian?" They asked, Miranda nodded.
"How's it going, Lacey?" The nurse asked me. "Okay. I'm just...tired." I yawned. Miranda and the nurse laughed. "Okay. He will be right in."
I sat up and leaned against the pillows, waiting for the doctor. When the door finally opened again, the doctor looked at my bandages and vital signs. "You're all good to go." He told me, shaking my left hand.
"Oh! You may want these back." He smiled at me. He was holding my little wad of bracelets! "Thank you!"
