Fenrir in the 501st

The teacher

A nice morning, a cup of coffee in hand looking out at the lake. A nice calming day. Pokryshkin comes up behind me.

Pokryshkin - ' Flight leader Gall wants to see you. '

Ashley - ' Lead the way. '

I follow Pokryshkin to Gall's office and we talk about mechanical stuff along the way.  We both enter the room.

Pokryshkin - ' So it's finally time for a counter attack? '

Gall - ' When we know how to destroy a nest then we will. '

Rossmann - ' But we haven't been told how the 501st destroyed the nest over Gallia. '

Gall - ' Krupinski is writing a letter to Hartmann but we do we have send a letter when we have a former 501st member here. '

Pokryshkin turns to me in shock and Rossmann and Gall look at me as if telling me to say how we destroyed the nest.

Ashley - ' There are alot of politics involved in what I'm about to tell you. I haven't been told the "official" way we took out the nest. But in short there is a core inside the nest. You need enough firepower to clear the clouds around the core to get a clean hit. It also seems that the nest can deploy multiple Neuroi at fast rate. As the equipment the the 501st used it no longer available. Don't ask me what it was because thats something im not allowed to talk about without Galland's permission. '

Rall - ' I see, what are the chances of us dealing with the nest now? '

Ashley - ' From what I seen, not high. Maybe you could if you used a suicide plan sacrificing eachother along the way to the c... '

Rall - ' I Will Not! '

Ashley - ' There you have it, so we should just wait to see what the high ups plan to do. '

Rall - ' You're all dismissed. '

We all leave her office. I follow Rossmann as we meet up to see Hikari jump across the water. I watch Rossmann walk across. To show off and to show a point, I heavily fortify my shield and hold  it under me as I sit on it. Im currently hovering over the ground some distance up. Im sitting on the edge of my shield kicking my legs back and forth as they dont touch the ground. Hikari go jaw dropped and Rossmann looks annoyed. 

Hikari - ' Wow, you can even do that with magic? '

Ashley - ' only if you have near perfect magic control. '

Rossmann - ' Hikari come with me, Ashley go help Rall with her paper work. Im busy with Hikari and Pokryshkin is busy with some mistfits.'

I hope off my shield and give  Rossmann a mock salute and walk off to go see Rall. I get to her office to see her slumped over her desk with a bunch of paper work. She looks up to see who entered and quickly straightened herself out.

Rall - ' Ashley, what can I do for you? '

Ashley - ' I annoyed Rossmann so she told me to come do paperwork with you. '

I can see clearly in her eye the joy she feeling about not having to do all the paperwork herself. Seeing how much shes struggling with this much makes me think, that I spoiled Minna with helping her with all the paperwork. 

Near the end of the day both Rossmann and Pokryshkin enter Rall's office. I brew some tea for all of them since I'm still working as an assistant with the paperwork. They all look out the window and start talking about Hikari. Rall just left me to do the last of the paperwork, next time I help her ill give her all the hard to undestand and the weird ones. They continue to watch Hikari for sometime till we all leave to go for dinner.

At the dinner table I sit beside Hikari. Her hands trembling from overwork. She having so much trouble trying to eat I should help her.

Kanno - ' What not going to eat. I'll eat it then. '

Hikari - ' No I'll eat it. '

She reaches for the spoon it clearly shaking hard in her hand. Before she can put the spoon in the soup, I snach her spoon fill it with the soup and put it in front of her mouth. She looks at me unsure of what to do.

Ashley - ' Eat. '

She take the spoon intobher mouth and eat the soup. We continue to go on like this all through dinner. After dinner we all go to bed.

The next morning I see Hikari trying to climb the pillar on the base. I watch her climb and fall multiple times. This continues for 4 more days. On the 7th day of her climbing the pillar the weather started to get worse. The winds are howling heavy rain. But I stand the keeping an eye on her. Nipa and Kanno started watching from the distance on the frist day then they got closer and stayed long each passing day. Rossmann decided to join us to after Hikari fell but caught herself with out slipping for the first time. I look over to Rossmann and give her a questioning look. She looks at me them back to Hikari without giving me a second glance.

Rossmann then gives instructions on how to climb the pillar. Rall appeared behind us.

Rall - ' I though you were trying to get her to leave?. '

Rossmann looks over to Rall and gives her a smile. A look of realization flashes across Rall's face. Then gives a  sad smile. Right Rossmann had a student that was like Hikari. The battle field is unpredictable,  things happen. The best soldier in the field could take a stray shot and die or a complete green soldier gets a lucky shot on an important figure. She shouldn't blame herself.

Rossmann leaves with Rall. After a few minutes the alarm go off. Alerting everyone on base that there is a Neuroi attack. Everyone runs off to the hanger. I stay behind and watch Hikari. She continues to climb before stopping, as she stops Kanno shows up and trash talks her. Kanno's tsundere encouragement works wonders and Hikari reaches the top. Rossmann flys up to her and congratulates her, Hikari comes down and runs off to the hanger. She didn't even notice me, she was so happy. Stare off to were she flys off to. Rall comes up behind me.

Rall - ' You'll catch a cold if you continue to stay outside. I don't want Minna to have a crusade against me for letting you get sick. '

Ashley - ' I heard there was a sauna. Ill go warm up there. Minna won't know if you don't tell her. '

Rall - ' Haha, true but if I don't Rossmann will. '

I let out a defeated laugh. The last thing I want is Minna coming here to bring me to the were she is. By heavens will she will do that.

Ashley - ' Right, I'll go warm up now. '

I walk off to the sauna to my surprise someone is already hot inside. Oh great it's Krupinski.
