Its time for you to fly

The rays of the sun coming from my window stir me awake. I groggily push myself up from the floor. Why did I fall sleep on the floor, again? Oh well, I should check out Rall's Unit she lent me, I have repairs to do. I open my door just as Pokryshkin was about to knock on it.

Ashley - ' Yes? Can I help you? '

Pokryshkin - ' You've been asleep for two days. Come with me to the hanger. '

She turns and walks off. I roll my eyes and follow behind her. I'm totally in trouble. We quickly walk through the halls of the base. The taps of her shoes clearly show she is not in a good mood. I probably burnt the magic coils, condenser,  and the engine is beyond basic repair.

We reach the hanger, off the side I can see Nippa kneeling on the ground  and Hikari getting trained to dodge snowballs? I continue to follow Pokryshkin and she stand infront of Nippa then looks over to me.

Pokryshkin - ' Kneel! '

Ashley - ' Im pretty sure I can fix the unit I used easily. '

Pokryshkin - ' Its beyond repair, it should be impossible to damage half the thing that were damaged! You thing you can pull new parts in and it will work. No! Half of the unit is just a hunk of metal now! '

Ashley - ' I'm pretty sure I can fix it. My magic is magical engineering. I did the impossible before. Watch ill do it again! '

The audacity! To dare think that I Ashley O'Neil  can't fix a simple problem. Watch and witness creation. I huff and life my head.

Ashley - ' Watch me, ill do it, it will be evem better them the original model!'

Pokryshkin - ' Is that a challenge? '

Ashley - ' Yeah it is! '

As we yell at eachother we get closer and closer till are fore heads are touching. After we finish yelling we both turn with a huff.

Nippa - ' Uhhhh...'

Pokryshkin - ' Not now, I need to make sure she doesn't cheat. '

I look over to to see Hikari amd Rossmann both staring at us. The snowball slowly melting on Rossmann's hand. Hikari is perfectly still on her balance beam. I stop looking at them and make my way over to the broken unit.

I start by opening up the maintenance panel,  looing at the internals here, everything is almost melted. She wasn't kidding when she said it was a piece of metal now. I look around the hanger to see if there are any parts I could use to help speed things up. As I look arpunf I see the smug face of Pokryshkin looking at me like she already won. Just behind her in the distance against the wall I see a large crate and inside I see old units all looking the same, like the one beside Nippa. Bingo. A smile comes across my face. I walk over to the box and look inside and all the scrap inside. Perfect, the models are similar so the parts she be somewhat compatible for a normal repair team, but me? I Could do this in my sleep. I grab the tools I need and start disassembling everything. I lay out all the parts that I need by the unit. I strip the unit and pull apart and piece still salvageable. Only 7% of the internals are reusable.  Damn, I can feel the smug face from here. I take a deep breath in, I hold it for a few seconds before letting it out as I activate my magic. I can feel it, how the unit needs to be put together to be whole again. I block everything but my goal out and get to work.

As I put the final piece in place I see the sun the the rising position. Wow, thats took longer then I thought. I release my magic and a sudden wave of exhaustion hits me. I look around the hanger to see Nippa kneeling again and Pokryshkin chewing her out, of to the side Hikari and Rossmann are at it again. From my point of view it looks like Rossmann is having fun throwing things at Hikari. I look over the unit on more time to see if everything is in place. In place is an understatement, everything is placed perfectly. I walk over to Pokryshkin and tap her shoulder.  She  jumps from the sudden touch.

Pokryshkin - ' What? You give up? '

Ashley - ' No, Im done, its fixed. Im tired so I'll head back to my room to sleep, you should test it or get Rall to test it, her injury won't cause any problem when she flys the particular unit. '

As I say that she doesn't respond and runs to the unit I just finished fixing. I hear gasps and shouts of astonishment. She then turns to me as I was about to leave.

Pokryshkin - ' How did you do it? '

Ashley - ' Because that unit wanted to fly with its proper pilot again. As for me, I just used a lil'magic. '

I continue on my way to my room. Maybe I could get Yoshika to visit here, Hikari's older sister should be with her right now. She will be fine, health wise. Purity maybe not so much, Yoshika is the tanuki incarnate. I'd prefer if she was like Krupinski over the damn Tanuki. I still need to draw up some blueprints for a jet striker, or the Paladin project. I should get started right away on that though. Better to get that out of the way before, anything bad happens. 

I think of all the things that I could do to make the Paladin project,  ideas come and go in my head. With every idea my eyes slowly drift shut. Before I can actually go to sleep the base alarm goes off. I quickly sit up in my bed and stomp my way over to the briefing room, if it's a false alarm, oh boy, you do not want to know what I'll do.
