I make my way over to the striker unit. I start a pre-flight check examining the striker unit for any defects and making sure the weapon is loaded with paint rounds. Gun safety should be handled with extreme care.
Everything looks to be in place. I complete the prep to equip my Striker. I enter my striker unit the magic quickly flows to me at an alarming rate, I quickly adjust my magical output make it receive a small drop compared to how other witches would power their unit. That was a close one, I almost broke the unit. Magical capacitors can only handle a certain load within safe operations, Miyafuji had that problem. The magical circle looks to be a normal size, unit Rpms within normal parameters, capacitor and coil burden green. Alright all set!
I call out to the the Control tower and follow proper base procedures.
Ashley - ' Cadet O'Neil flight check all green, ready for take off.'
The excitement that I'm about to fly through the sky it's overwhelming.
ATC - ' runway clear, cadet you are free to launch. '
Pushing my unit's Rpm higher I start to move forward at an increasing speed. Adrenaline pumping through my body. Reaching 300km/h my ascent starts, I climb to 800 meters high, I reach my instructor after a minute.
Instructor - 'So you made it, never would have thought a witch using a striker for the first time, would be able to make it up here or better yet.'
She gives me a look of suspicion and curiosity. Was I supposed to fail?
Instructor - ' Be able to use a striker without any magical training. You peeked my interest show me what you can do.'
The instructor quickly raises her gun and fires at me.
*Bang*
Eh? The shot startles me, I deftly drop altitude to avoid any more shots. My panic is cut short by a stinging pain on my shoulder. A gash, a paint round definitely would not have such penetrative capabilities. She shot me with a live round... Oh my Roxie, she's using live rounds, Jashin, Roxie, Pasta save me, I'm going to die from a freak training accident.
*Bang*
Damn, think she's behind me, how do I reverse this? Ace combat! That's it! I'm a witch, G's don't matter cause magic! I create multiple magic shields near me with the affect of causing drag. The sudden stop jerks my body to a halt, the instructor flies right by me. Kicking the Rpms to the max I start my dog fight. Following close behind her, something in me make me feel joy from chasing her, almost like she's prey.
A few minutes pass I'm still stuck behind her, my cheeks are sore, but seeing her infuriated face make them hurt even more. I touch my face to see why it hurts only to feel a smile. This is me...?
The thrill of the hunt, with every maneuver she does I follow with machine precision, never letting her out of my sight. I slowly line up my shot, clear center mass, I set my finger on the trigger from its idle position. I slowly squeeze the trigger, with every millimeter its moved the adrenaline and bloodlust get stronger.
*Rattatata*
Paint splatters all over her back and over her striker unit, the satisfaction of my first kill is exhilarating. We both stop in the air, she looks over to me with amazement and fear.
After "shooting her down" my mind clears from the blood lust. My body feeling exhausted and heavy. I fly to the ground and land. Docking my striker unit, I unequip it.
I stretch my body to lessen it up. my arm gives off a sharp pain. I notice my instructor also landed and unequipped her gear. I make my way to the instructor who is staring at her gun solemnly.
Ashley - ' Instructor what seems to be the problem?'
The instructor looks up to me her solemn eyes meeting my curious look, she then proceeds to scan my body for something only for her gaze to stop on my arm. Her face going pale like see looking at a ghost. She quickly corrects herself and takes a deep breath in she boldly shouts.
Instuctor - ' We need a medic over here!'
She moves to me quickly and makes me sit down, she's saying other stuff bit it kind of hard to hear her like she's under water or something. my vision of her is getting blurry. Why does she keep looking at my arm? Is there something wrong with it? I try to look at my arm but she stops me and give the universal sign to just look at her. Further behind her I see a team of medics with a stretcher coming over here, did someone get hurt?A strange tiredness takes over me, like my entire being is telling me it's okay to sleep. Well I never was one to refuse sleep. I let the warmth of the deep darkness consume me.
Right before my lovely rest a thought interrupts and wakes me. Wasn't I the one who got shot be a live round. The reason she wont let me look at me arm, could it be?! I'm dying again. No no no, it cant be I've only been here for a day. Oh well, at least I won the duel right? I forgot was it first hit or total damage. Let my life be a lesson for all future instructors, always double check your ammunition to make sure you are using proper equipment. My blood is so red, just like her hair crimson. So beautiful.
Like a great wise tortoise once said "My time has come!" What I would do for a nice cup of calming jasmine tea to send me off. I drift off to my eternal sleep.
