Fenrir in the 501st

Back in the saddle

A calming morning chill wind fills the hanger as I sip my coffee. Theres alot of work I have to do. The hanger is a mess, tools everywhere, parts stored in the wrong spots. This room is all wrong, It's not calming at all. I'm going to have say a few words with the crews that work here. I would say Hartmann is cleaner them this but that would be such a big lie that even someone who doesn't know her would be able to call it out.

Spending the morning cleaning up, Krupinski suddenly bursts into the hanger.

Krupinski - ' Where did all my grape juice go? They haven't done anything wrong. You monster! '

I place a box of parts down in their in their spot, then turn to face her.

Ashley - ' I haven't touched them yet, so I have no clue of where they are. But I do remember Rossmann holding a grudge for her caviar. '

Krupinski - ' You drank some didn't you? You still have some bottles in your room right? '

Ashley - ' Did you not hear what I said? Plus I don't drink, I've seen what it does to people. You really want someone drunk to do repairs on your unit? '

Krupinski goes and pouts in the corner of the hanger. Seeing that she won't be leaving any time soon, I continue cleaning the hanger.

As I finish sweeping the work area, Rossmann walk into the hanger, looking for something. I point to the sulking blob in the corner. Rossmann nods to me and drags Krupinski out of the hanger.

I look to the clock on the wall and see it's around noon. Time to eat something and get some more coffee before working on the strikers. The calming quiet walk to the dinning room was enjoyable. As I open the door I see everyone all sitting down waiting for their lunch. I join them and sit down.

Hikari - ' Everyone is back now. I'm so happy! '

Kanno - ' Hikari, stop yelling! '

Nippa - ' Don't fight you two! '

Rossmann - ' all of you, calm down we are at the table. '

The rest of the 502nd start their banter. I start laughing. Everyone stops talking and looks at me.

Ashley - ' Sorry, sorry. It's like you're all just normal family.  It's like you dont have to worry about anything. '

Hikari - ' But, you're apart of this family too. '

Kanno - ' Yeah, you get away from us that easy. '

This shocks me, am I really like family to them? I look over to Rall and see her nod to me. Just like family huh? I finish up my food and bring my plate to the kitchen to clean it. I walk by the others  still eatting .

Ashley - ' I'll get to fixing up your units, especially yours Nippa. Lord knows whats holding it together.  '

Nippa - ' Hey, I take care of my unit! '

I give a wave before closing the door behind me. I notice Rall waiting fornme in the hall.

Rall - ' Should you really be doing so much just after getting out of bed? '

Ashley - ' I'm doing great, don't worry. I'll sit down and relax of it gets to hard. We still have a little more then a month before the operation right? '

Rall - ' Yes, five weeks. Why being it up? '

Ashley - ' we might have less time then that. Even with a month worth of time I wouldn't be able to make anything to help much.  I could do modifications on your units. Like installing an ESDS. '

Rall - ' An ESDS? '

Ashley - ' Emergency shield deployment system. It works wonders, with some tinkering, witches wouldn't have to manually deploy their shield. I prefer if they still use their own shield though, so of they dont have thay unit they can still fight to full capacity. Ah, right, can you ask Galland for an official deployment order for Hikari for the 502nd. That would be helpful. Tell her I asked for it. She will send it with haste. '

Rall - ' What situation would require that? '

Ashley - ' I just want to see some amusing drama.  Laying in bed is quite boring, I'm sure you know how that feels. '

Rall - ' Indeed,  Ill forward your request to the Air Marshal.  '

Ashley - ' Thanks, Ill be in the hanger if you need anything. '

I continue down my path to the hanger, thinking of all the repairs and maintenance I have to do. There is only so much Pokryshkin can do. This will be a long night.

The next morning, the alarm goes off. I just roll over in bed and go back to sleep, not like I can do anything without a unit. I wake up and its already noon. Well I'll  have to go tune the units that went out now.

The rest of the week passes by quietly, no attacks or any chaos. My thoughts are interrupted by loud crashing in the hanger.  I briskly walk into the hanger and see Nippa upside down amd her unit smoking. I just fixed it yesterday. 

Ashley - ' Nippa! Kneel! '

Nippa - ' Ah! Ashley,  im sorry, I wanted to practice some maneuvers by my unit stopped working. '

Ashley - ' Put the unit back on the rack and kneel right there as I fix it! '

So this is how Pokryshkin feels all the time. This is hard to get used too. Fixing this unit took the rest of the day. I drag Nippa to the dinning room, as her legs went numb from kneeling all day. 

Ashley - ' Can we have someone join Nippa if she goes into the hanger. '

Pokryshkin - ' What did she do now? '

Ashley  - ' she broke her unit before even taking off, new record by the way. '

Pokryshkin - ' What! Nippa kneel! '

Nippa - ' But I was already kneeling all day! '

Pokryshkin looks over to me  and I nod to acknowledge that she did kneel the entire day. I catch Pokryshkin mumble.

Pokryshkin- ( Even, I'm not that evil. )

I lay down in bed tomorrow will be a fun day, I let my eyes drift closed.
