2017

Luke had insisted that I move in with him as soon as I returned home from college, so that's exactly what I did.

College was long and hard. I had studied to be a journalist, and it was definitely the best decision I could have made. Luke came to visit me a few times in the past three years, with his busy schedule it was harder than he wanted it to be, though.

I hadn't found a job just yet, but Luke said that was something I could worry about when I was settled in.

I was surprised when I returned home to find Calum and Jude in Utah and staying with Luke. They had come to help us move me in is what Luke told me. I found it odd that they would come all the way to Utah to help me move, but I didn't question it. Michael and Ashton hadn't been able to come because they both had work, but Calum was between jobs at the moment and Jude was out of school for the summer (he was in his last year at Stanford), so they were free to come.

"Caroline, can you help me with this box?" Jude asked as he walked through the door carrying probably the biggest box that I owned. I wasn't even sure what was all in the box, Luke helped me pack and he just threw random things in it.

I started toward him, but Calum beat me and took the box from Jude, rolling his eyes as he placed it on Luke's (and I guess mine now too) couch. "Weak." He mumbled as Jude glared at him. It was a love/hate relationship at it's finest.

Luke came in behind Jude and sat down a small box that I was sure contained all my photos. "That's the last box." He announced.

Jude and Calum let out a sigh of relief and both crashed on the couch, practically landing on one another.

Luke smiled at me and approached me, wrapping his arms around my waist and pulling me closer to him. He left a soft kiss on my lips. "Now all that's left to do is unpack."

I groaned. "Can't we do that later?" I really didn't feel like unpacking at the moment, I kind of just wanted to spend time with Luke. I had only been home for a week and with him working, I felt as if I had barely seen him.

"Okay, we'll unpack later." Luke nodded. He leaned in and kissed my nose before leaning his forehead against mine. "You know, I'm really happy you're back home and now you're moving in."

"I'm happy, too." I smiled. "And I'm happy that you're happy. You are happy, right? With everything?" Luke had just finished therapy at the beginning of the year, but I still worried about him constantly. I just didn't want anything to happen to him, and I wanted to make sure he was alright.

"Yes, I'm very happy." He grinned at me. It made me so glad to hear him say that because that was all I really wanted to hear.

"I love you." I told him.

"I love you more." He sighed. He left a kiss on my cheek and pulled me closer to him. "Caroline?"

"Yeah?"

"I think we may have forgotten a box." Luke pulled away and stared at me.

"I thought you said that was the last one." I pointed to the box that he had brought in and he shook his head. Jude and Calum sat up on the couch and stared at Luke as if they were waiting for something.

"You know what?" Luke smacked his lips. "I know what box I'm forgetting." He reached into his pocket and pulled out a black velvet box.

"Luke, what is that?" I said slowly. I had a feeling of what it was, but I wasn't sure if I was right.

"Oh, it's just a ring." Luke shrugged. He acted as if it was no big deal.

"Just a ring?"

"Well, it's a ring that you wear on your left ring finger to signify an engagement, but other than that it's just a ring."
