"Why didn't you tell me you're coming to Utah?" I asked the dark haired boy as soon as his face popped up on my laptop screen. His hair was unusually messy and he looked as if he had just woken up, even though it was four-thirty in the afternoon.
I decided that I should ask Calum why he hadn't mentioned coming to Utah, it was a pretty big deal to me. It would have been weird for me to just see him around or have Luke mention him and me be even more confused about what he was doing in Utah. I'm glad I found out he was coming before he actually got there.
Calum furrowed his brows. "Who told you?"
"Who else? Luke." I rolled my eyes. I didn't have any other way of knowing.
"I thought you weren't talking to Luke after what happened." Calum tilted his head in confusion. I knew he was referring to Luke kissing me, it was obvious.
"Well, that's kind of hard to do. His girlfriend is my best friend." I felt like I had repeated that line so many times, to Luke and myself.
"Hm," Calum hummed, running a hand through his hair, "But, why would he tell you? I mean, you guys don't even get along."
"I don't know." I shrugged. I hadn't thought about that. Luke and I weren't on the best terms, yet he told me these things. And he didn't know that I still kept contact with Calum, so it couldn't be that. "But, he told me that he asked you guys to come here for New Years."
Calum scoffed. "Asked? More like begged."
"What do you mean?" I leaned forward a little, suddenly more interested in what Calum had to say.
"Well, I talked to the other guys and he did the same to them as he did to me. He called us up and practically begged us to come there for a couple of weeks. He wouldn't take no for an answer."
"But, why?" I could see that maybe Luke was doing it because he missed his friends, but the fact that he begged them was weird.
"I don't know," Calum shook his head, then looked down, "I think he may be getting bad again."
I didn't have to ask what Calum meant by Luke getting 'bad again', it was pretty obvious. But I felt bad for Luke. No matter if he was a jerk, no one deserves to feel the way Luke felt. What happened to that woman that night wasn't Luke's fault and he needed to realize that.
"Where are you guys staying when you get here?" I decided to change the subject, seeing that the thought upset Calum. Although he was still mad at Luke, I could see why thinking about his best friend being depressed would sadden him.
"The guest house. Apparently, his parents are gonna be out of the city for a couple of weeks and Luke will have the place to himself. Even though there is enough rooms in the main house for us to sleep, he said his parents will have a fit if they go into one of the rooms and find even the smallest hint that we were there. So, we have to stay in the guest house." Calum shrugged, "Though, I don't understand that because he says he wants throw a party."
"Oh, God." I rolled my eyes.
"That was exactly my first thought." Calum laughed, "But maybe it'll be fun."
"How will you guys even get here?"
"Luke paid for our tickets--with his parents' credit card of course--and he's already sent them out. Of course, we'll be arriving on different days according to flight schedules but I'll be there on the twenty-ninth."
"How did Luke pay for the tickets? What about identification?" I knew that one time my brother tried to pay for something over the phone with one of my dad's credit cards and couldn't buy it because they requested my dad's social security number and Kyle didn't have it.
