Since the party a week before, I hadn't spoken to Luke. Of course, he was always with Audrey in school but I didn't acknowledge him. He tried to speak to me but I wouldn't respond. In the few times that he had spoken to me and rambled on while I listened and stayed silent, he told me that we only made out at the New Years Eve party. I was so relieved to hear that.

But I had concluded that there were still feelings there for Luke. As much as he was a jerk and I hated to admit it, there was no denying it. I could never take him back, though. He was a liar, a cheater, and he had Audrey. He didn't need me, he had a girlfriend. He was just going to use me again and I knew that. I wouldn't and couldn't let him back in. I already had to wear my hair down everyday in order to cover the hickey he gave me, I did not need any more of his problems.

Audrey had called me earlier in the day and asked me if I wanted to come over to Luke's. I immediately refused and told her no many times. She pushed and pushed, to no prevail. Then she began to ramble about how she just wanted to hang out and that she was going to be stuck with a bunch of guys, and I began to feel bad. I still hadn't seen Michael and I hadn't spoken to Calum since the day he came to my house. I wanted to hang out with them, so I finally gave in and told Audrey I would be over shortly. She gave me directions to the house, though I knew perfectly well where it was.

I knew my mom was still in bed because she was complaining that she didn't feel well, and my dad was at work. My siblings were in their rooms and I had to figure out a way to sneak out without anyone noticing.

"Hey, Caroline!" I stopped dead in my tracks in the middle of the hall, not really sure what to do next. I turned around slowly and was faced with Dana. Her brown hair was tied up in a bun, a very tangled looking one. "Where are you going?"

"Uh, I'm was just going to the bathroom." I lied. I knew she would tell our mom if I told her the truth. Not because she was a snitch, but because she had no filter.

"The bathroom is the other way." Dana threw her thumb over her shoulder.

"I'm going to the one downstairs." I lied again, "I like that one better."

Dana stared at me for a few seconds and I assumed she knew I was lying, "You're weird." She said before running off down the hall and into her room.

I let out a breath, relieved that she had bought my lies. I knew after that that I would need a cover up, so I went to the only person I knew would cover for me.

I walked up to Kyle's door and was about to knock, but I heard his voice. He was talking to someone and when I heard no response, I concluded that he was in the phone.

"I don't want to do this anymore." Kyle groaned into the phone, there was a pause and I assumed that the other person was speaking. "I know we had an agreement but she's my sister, dude."

Although he had three sisters, I knew automatically that he was speaking of me. Why would he be speaking of Dana or Halle. They were seven and I doubted that anyone Kyle knew would know them.

"That chick is too into you. It's not working, okay? She doesn't like me like that." I decided that it was time for me to knock. I shouldn't have been eavesdropping, even if I had a small part in the conversation. Though, I did want to know what he was talking about.

My knuckles came in contact with the door, and I heard some shuffling on the other side before it opened and my brother's head popped out.

"Caroline, hey." Kyle chuckled nervously, "What's up?"

"Can you cover for me if mom asks where I am?"

"Where are you going?"

"Luke's house." I rolled my eyes at the thought. I really didn't want to go at all, but Audrey was so manipulative that I couldn't help but agree.
