No one would tell me what was going on. I asked Kyle the day after I heard him on the phone with Luke what was happening and he waved me off, telling me that Luke would tell me. So, I asked Luke and he said that it wasn't anything big, Kyle was just making a big deal out of nothing. But, I still wanted to know what the nothing was. I didn't have the slightest idea, so I went to Calum. He told me that he had no idea what the deal was between Luke and Kyle, but he would hear Luke on the phone sometimes talking to him. I just wanted them to stop keeping secrets, whatever it was couldn't be that bad.
And as for Audrey, she wouldn't acknowledge Luke and I. Instead of sitting with us in class, she sat on the other side of the room, same with lunch. I couldn't blame her, we had hurt her badly and I felt horrible. So horrible that I didn't even know if Luke and I should be together, if we ever got to that point. I mean, I liked him, a lot. And I liked kissing him, and spending time with him. But what had happened made me feel bad, and it really put a damper in my mood when I thought about it.
"Are you okay?" Luke snapped me out of my thoughts, his arms snaking around my waist from behind, my hands finding his wrists. He rested his chin on my shoulder and leaned his head forward slightly to get a better look at my face.
We were currently in the kitchen, doing absolutely nothing but standing around. Luke and I had come in earlier to eat and after we did, we just didn't leave the room. Instead, we stood around and talked, while also watching the small television on the counter. Now, of course, I had never even noticed the thing before Luke pointed it out. You would think that you would see a television in a kitchen, but apparently I wasn't very observational.
"I'm fine," I forced a smile, watching as the corner of his lips curved upward, revealing the small dimple in his right cheek, "Completely fine."
"Good," Luke left a small kiss on my exposed shoulder, due to my baggy sweater, and untangled himself from me, grabbing my hips and spinning me around to face him, "I don't want you to be sad."
"Why would I be sad?" I asked. Luke shrugged his shoulders, and leaned in, giving me a quick peck on the lips.
"I was thinking that maybe you and I could go out." Luke chewed on his lip ring, something I noticed he did a lot when he asked me questions. I didn't know if it was because he was nervous as to what my answer would be, or because if he thought it would influence my answer.
"On a date?"
"If you want it to be," Luke nodded, "But just so you know, I'm not into the whole fancy restaurant thing. I was thinking we could go bowling, or maybe go for a walk, get some frozen yogurt." I gave him a strange look, and he shrugged again, "Yeah, I'm not really good with the date business."
"Well, bowling is cheesy so don't go with that," I laughed and Luke joined me, "But, a walk and frozen yogurt would be nice."
He pursed his lips and wrapped his arms around my waist again, pulling me into his chest and I positioned my arms around his neck. "And afterward we could come back here and.." Luke trailed off, causing me to raise an eyebrow at him.
"If you think you'll get lucky after only the second date, you're dreaming." I smirked at him and he furrowed his brows.
"Second date?" Luke questioned, licking his lips.
"Well, uh, yeah." I laughed nervously, "We had our first one at camp." I was embarrassed for some reason, and also a little hurt that Luke didn't remember. I felt like it was something he would recall.
"Oh, my God." Luke laughed loudly, "We did." I stared at him as he laughed, not seeing what was exactly so funny about the memory. As I recalled, he lied to me that night. He said he didn't have a girlfriend, well not exactly in those terms, but he implied it.
"That was a good night," Luke smiled, finally calming down, "We had a good time." It was pretty obvious that Luke didn't remember our conversation from that night, but I wasn't about to bring it up and ruin the moment.
"It was," I smiled back at him, because it honestly was a good night, I couldn't argue about that. Luke lowered his head to my level and pressed his lips to mine, our lips moving against each other. One thing that I loved was that, even though Luke wasn't exactly the same from camp, his kisses didn't change. They were still gentle and sweet.
"I never asked you before," Luke mumbled against my lips, before pulling away completely, "Was I your first kiss?"
"No," I shook my head, "I had my first kiss when I was thirteen. It was this guy in my P.E. class that I liked. He pulled me behind the bleachers one day and kissed me but I pushed him off and ran away." Luke laughed loudly, causing me to hit his chest.
"Why did you run away?" Luke said inbetween laughs.
"He terrified me, I didn't know what he was doing. The boy just grabbed my face and started kissing me!"
"Oh," Luke nodded, "Like this?" He reached up and cupped my face, bringing my lips to his once again. He kissed me hungrily, and I didn't like it as much as I did his other kisses. But I didn't push him away, I kissed back.
"Jesus, it looks like you're gonna throw her on the counter and start making a sex tape any minute now!" Luke and I broke apart, looking in the direction that the voice came from. Michael was standing at the sliding glass door, watching us like it was completely normal.
"You'd watch it." Luke smirked, removing his hands from my face, as I dropped my arms from his neck.
"You're probably right," Michael glanced between the two of us and then nodded, "Yeah, I would."
"Pervert." I rolled my eyes playfully, a smile already forming on my lips. Michael shrugged, obviously not fazed by my insult.
"Why are you over here, Mike?" Luke asked, his voice seeming annoyed. I guess he was upset that Michael interrupted us, as if we wouldn't have many more chances to kiss.
"Ashton asked me to check on you two. He said he didn't want to become an uncle just yet."
"Ashton didn't say that." Luke frowned at the black haired boy.
"Well, he didn't use those words, but I'm sure that's what he meant." Michael walked over to the fridge and grabbed a can of Coke, popping it open and guzzling it down.
"Aren't there drinks in the fridge in the guest house?" Luke leaned against the counter, watching Michael drink his soda like it was the last one he would ever get.
Michael brought the can from his mouth finally and nodded, "Yeah, but I was closer to this fridge."
"Makes sense." I nodded, even though it really didn't make any sense to me.
"Caroline gets it." Michael walked to the door and left us alone again, making me believe that he actually only came over to check on us.
"You two are weird," Luke shook his head at me, a small smile on his lips.
"Yeah," I laughed, "But you love us regardless."
Luke continued staring at me, his smile growing bigger as he nodded and said, "I sure do."
