I was shoving my belongings in my locker, having just arrived at school, when a hand covered my eyes. I let out a small squeal, only to recieve a loud laugh from behind me. I spun around to see Luke standing there with a big smile on his face. He was wearing a bright red tee and black skinny jeans. I was surprised that he actually had on a bright color, it was usually dull colors if he wore any. I looked down and saw that he had a hand behind his back, as if he was hiding something.

"Should I be worried that you're wearing such a bright color today?" I chuckled. Luke looked down at his shirt, as if he had forgotten what he was wearing, and shrugged.

"Well, then should I be worried about what's behind your back?" I was really curious as to what he was hiding. Luke smirked at me and slowly brought his hand out from behind his back. He held a single red rose in his hand.

"Happy Valentine's Day!" Luke laughed nervously and fiddled with the petals as I furrowed my eyebrows and stared at it.

"Is that for me?" I placed a hand over my heart, faking shock.

Luke shook his head, "I got it for this girl in my Math class," He joked, "But she wouldn't take it, so I decided to give it to you."

"Well, that's her loss," I shrugged, deciding to play along, "But I most definitely will not turn it down." Luke smiled and handed it to me, and I held it tightly in my grasp.

"I picked that from the garden in my backyard, and I removed all the thorns," Luke leaned against one of the lockers beside me, "They poked the shit out of me."

"Thanks," I grinned. Luke nodded and it fell silent, until he cleared his throat.

"So," he spoke, "Do you want to come over to my house? My dad is working and my mom is going to a Valentine's dinner with her friends, or something." He ran a hand through his blonde hair and bit down on his lip ring.

"I'd love to, but I have to babysit my little sisters while my parents go out." My parents always went out on Valentine's Day, and I was always left to look after my siblings while they were gone. I closed my locker, after placing the rose in it, and held my books tightly to my chest as I turned to face Luke.

"Can't Kyle babysit them?" Luke groaned, standing up straight again. I shook my head.

"Kyle isn't really great with kids," I laughed, remembering the time that Dana asked for ice cream at ten o'clock at night and Kyle gave her a whole bowl full. It took until almost two in the morning to get her to go to sleep. "You can come over to my house if you want. I mean, we won't exactly be alone, but it's better than nothing."

"I guess I could," Luke scratched the back of his neck, "I'll be over at around 4?"

"Sounds good," I nodded, "If my parents' car is gone, it's safe." Luke laughed, as if I was joking, but I was completely serious.

"Okay, I'll see you in a bit." Luke leaned in and kissed me, letting his lips linger on mine for a few seconds. He pulled away and walked off, leaving me to walk to first period alone.

I climbed into my mom's car, sighing in relief that I was finally out of school for the day. My mom was waiting patiently in the car, tapping away on her phone. She looked up when I entered the car, setting down her phone and starting the car. Kyle reached up and smacked the back of my head, to which I turned around and frowned at him.

"You won't have to look after the twins tonight." My mom's words caused me to turn my attention to her.

"What? Why?" I said a bit too loudly, causing everyone in the car to look at me.
