"Does that happen often?" I asked Luke as I tagged along behind him to his car. I wasn't sure what else to say, I had never witnessed something like that before. And the thought that Luke may have to go through that on a regular basis upset me.
Luke shrugged, looking over his shoulder at me briefly. "It's usually my dad and I."
"Oh," I said quietly, Luke's response not making the situation any better. We finally reached Luke's car, and he opened my door for me. I smiled at him, him having never done that for me before. I climbed into the car and Luke closed the door, and he got in on his side.
I immediately turned my head and looked out the window, waiting for Luke to start the car. I hated thinking about the fact that Luke's parents didn't care about him. And I hated the fact that he knew that, and I hoped that he didn't think that no one cared about him. He thought that everyone hated him, when they didn't. And that was heartbreaking, because I definitely didn't hate him, and neither did his friends.
"Where are we going?" I questioned Luke, and he shifted his gaze to me.
"Well, I was thinking that we could go to the supermarket and get a whole bunch of junk food, park the car by the lake, and pig out in the backseat."
I laughed and nodded, "Sounds good to me."
Luke started the engine and pulled off from his house, a silence filling the car. I turned to look out the window again, hoping to avoid the situation for a while.
"That's what I do when this happens," Luke spoke suddenly, "I just eat and eat. I guess, you could say I eat my feelings." He laughed softly, "It's a good thing I have a fast metabolism." He stared straight ahead, chewing on his lip ring.
I chuckled, "Yeah, but I bet you would be just as cute chubby." Luke laughed loudly and shook his head, disagreeing with me.
"I was a chubby kid, and there was nothing cute about me."
"I bet you were adorable," I cooed, reaching over and lightly pinching Luke's cheek, causing him to laugh again.
"Let's just focus on getting the food, and not how cute I would be chubby." Luke glanced at me, a smile still set on his lips.
"Whatever you say," I sing-songed, "Though, I much rather focus on you being ch-"
"Caroline."
"Fine."

After an hour of shopping at the supermarket, and getting just about anything you could think of, Luke and I were relaxing in the backseat of his car. Luke was sitting beside me, munching on a bag of potato chips, while I sat there and watched him, stuffed after eating a whole box mini cakes.
"Could you stop watching me?" Luke laughed, his mouth full of chips.
I sighed, "I don't have anything better to do." The lake was quiet and the only sound was Luke eating. It wasn't a very eventful place, so I really had nothing to do.
"Eat these." Luke tossed a box of strawberry pop tarts at me. It hit my chest and bounced off, landing on the floorboard of the car.
"Ow," I rubbed the spot the box hit with my hand, "I don't want those," I told him, "I'm full."
"Well, turn on the radio."
"I can't reach." I stretched my arm out toward the radio, not moving from my sitting position.
"You're so lazy," Luke rolled his eyes at me, opening his bottle of soda.
"Wow, you really know how to flatter a girl," I laughed softly. Luke shrugged as he chugged his drink, handing it to me when he was done with it. I took a sip and put the bottle top back on, throwing the bottle at him.
"Hey!" Luke whined as it hit his leg, and landed between his legs.
"Payback," I smiled, tucking a loose strand of hair behind my ear. I made a face at Luke, and he laughed loudly, as if it was the funniest thing he had ever seen. I was glad that he was in a better mood now. He shouldn't let his parents get to him, it would only make him sad, and no one needs to feel that way. His parents were the ones who would have to deal their decisions, and he shouldn't let them bring him down.
Without warning, Luke leaned in and pressed his lips to mine. I was stunned and just sat there, having him pull away only seconds later. He reached out his hand and began to play with my hair, while I stared at him quizzically.
"What was that for?" I asked.
Luke's eyes met mine and he smiled widely, twisting a lock of my hair around his finger, "For making me happy."

This is really short but the next will be longer. I feel like this story is getting boring, I'm sorry.
Am I the only one who eats when I'm sad? Yeah? Okay.
Just so you know, I'm trying to focus more on this story right now so i probably wont be updating my other stories until this one is finished
