"Too bright," Luke shook his head and scrunched his face up, indicating that he didn't find the purple shirt the least bit appealing. I placed it back on the clothes rack.
"How about this one?" I held up a shirt that was the same as the last, a plain v-neck, only this one was a dark green.
"Nah, that one is too dark," Luke crossed his arms over his chest and chewed on his lip ring. I sighed.
We were presently at the mall, Luke's idea. It was only a two days before my birthday and Luke had insisted on taking me to the mall to buy me presents. Now, of course, I wasn't going to turn down presents, but Luke was starting to frustrate me because he had an opinion on everything I picked out. If I liked something, he didn't, and vice versa. So, Luke and I had already spent about three hours in the mall and he hadn't bought me a single present.
I proceeded to search through the shirts until my hand touched something sticky. I made a face and pulled my hand away instantly. I turned to Luke and rubbed my hand on his black sweatshirt, deciding it should be payback for him irritating me.
"Ew, what are you doing?" Luke pushed my hand off of him and extended his arm out in front of him to examine it.
"There was something on that clothes hanger and it got on my hand." I explained nonchalantly.
"So, you decided to wipe it on me?" Luke's eyes widened. I shrugged again and wiped my hand on his sweatshirt again just to upset him.
"Stop that!" Luke shrieked, taking a step back from me. I laughed softly and turned away from him, rummaging through the blouses once again. I finally found a light blue shirt that was just a tank top, and held it up for Luke to see. He took it from my hands and held it up to my body, tilting his head to the side and placing a finger to his lips.
"It shows a lot of skin," He nodded, and I rolled my eyes playfully, "I like that." He grabbed my hand and pulled me behind him as we made our way to the checkout counter.
Halfway to the counter, Luke stopped abruptly and pulled me to the right. We came to a shelf with different colored bracelets that had little sayings on them.
"I'll buy you this one," Luke held up a bracelet that read "I have the best boyfriend".
"No." I shook my head.
"So, you don't think I'm a good boyfriend?" Luke furrowed his eyebrows, faking hurt, "I'm offended, Caroline. I have been in this mall for three hours with you, letting you pick out whatever you want and you have the nerve to say that I am not the best boyfriend? That is just hurtful and -"
"Okay!" I laughed, holding up my hands, "Get me the bracelet." Luke smiled and held the bracelet in his grasp. He then picked up another one.
"And I'll get this one," Luke handed me the bracelet, "I have the luckiest girlfriend", it read. I laughed loudly, causing a few people in the store to look over at us.
"This is why I love you." I said once I had regained myself, and gave the bracelet back to Luke.
"I know," He smirked, fixing the snapback on his head, "I love you, too." He kept the two bracelets firmly in his hand as we continued to the counter of the store, paying for our items.
"Have you talked to Calum recently?" Luke asked as soon as we had left the store. He was carrying the bag with our things in it, as he refused to let me carry it.
"Calum?" I questioned. I actually hadn't spoken to Calum in about a week. He sent me a text a few days before saying that he had been busy and that he would try to call me on my birthday. But, other than that I hadn't exactly spoken to Calum.
