Nisha's Point of View

What I had learned earlier had stayed with me, and I found myself still pondering unresolved questions without knowing where to seek answers. As I sat in our room, I looked out the window, and the scene outside appeared to be shrouded in darkness, as it had been every day since we arrived here. I couldn't be certain if it was still daylight in the actual world.

Inside the room, Patricia was lying on her bed, gazing vacantly at the ceiling. The silence between us was palpable, and my curiosity got the better of me. Since there were only two of us present, and we had no idea where Scarlette was, I decided to break the quiet and ask Patricia what was on her mind.

"Do you have a penny for your thoughts, Patricia?" I raised my voice, hoping to break the silence, but she only continued to stare at the ceiling.

"About what's going to happen in the future," she said softly enough for me to hear. I sighed, feeling a mixture of concern and uncertainty, as I wasn't sure how to respond to such a weighty question.

What was in store for us in the near future? Would we ever be able to live on this planet as free individuals? Could there be a way for us to be reunited with the people we care about and live a life filled with happiness, or was this bleak existence destined to become our new normal?

As I pondered the questions, I couldn't help but wonder if we were trapped in this place or if there was a chance of escape. The laboratory we were brought to seemed to be an isolated and mysterious location, and we had no clear understanding of the forces that brought us here or the intentions behind it all.

As I gazed out of the window once more, searching for some sign or clue to the outside world, I couldn't shake the feeling that the answers we sought were beyond our reach, locked away in the enigmatic depths of this strange place. But we couldn't give up hope, for it was all we had to hold onto in this murky and uncertain journey.

"Are you going to inquire as to why I'm here? Let's lighten your thoughts because I understand how hard it was and how urgently it needed to be addressed," she stated.

I grinned at her as I looked into her eyes, and she returned the smile.

"Are you prepared to respond?" I inquired, hoping to engage her in conversation. To my delight, I heard her giggle as she sat up in bed and turned to face me. Her reaction piqued my interest, as it seemed she was ready to share her thoughts.

"Yes, of course! In this fight, I'm your co-conspirator," she replied cheerfully.

Her willingness to be my partner in navigating this uncertain situation warmed my heart. Patricia had always been strong and dependable, and having her by my side gave me a sense of comfort and hope amidst the unknown. It was as if her cheerful response lifted a weight off my shoulders, reminding me that I wasn't alone in this journey.

"So, what brings you here? You're still too young to be a part of this tumultuous world," I began. She simply shook her head, indicating her disagreement with what I had said.

"Since the day I was born, I've been a part of it. And while this isn't new to me, here are the answers," she took a deep breath and settled on her bed. "I was unwell at the time. You see me as powerful now, capable of fighting Mr. NO's slaves, but I have a history of being weak."

I was solely focused on her face. She was reminiscing about her gloomy past, yet I couldn't detect any change in her expression. She remained motionless, as if her past had no bearing on her, and I admired Patricia's bravery.

"That town was ambushed while I was still in my mother's womb. She carried me for 8 months and was due to give birth next month. My mother fought so hard simply to defend me, but in the end, she sustained a serious wound in her stomach, causing her to hemorrhage," my heart bled as I listened to her long statement. While recalling such events, I felt as if I had been victimized by the world's malice. Indeed, she has lived in a chaotic world since birth, and it made me reflect on my own life.
