They are in gondola now, watching the city in awe. Celestia had her head resting in The Doctor's shoulder, their arms linked.

"Doctor, I think I've changed my mind." Charley said.

"You have?" The Doctor asked, looking at her.

"I've decided to enjoy myself. All right, so you've brought me somewhere that's on the brink of calamity, as usual, and we'll be lucky to get out by the skin of our teeth, but it's still beautiful. It's still" The Doctor cut her off.

"It's still Venice. It's somewhere fantastic, dreamlike, but it's doomed apotheosis."

"Mmm, something like that." Charley said.

"See, I knew you'd cheer up once we were out on the canals." The Doctor said. Then he noticed that Celestia didn't say anything during the entire conversation. "You've been awfully quiet." He told her.

"Oh, have I?" Celestia said. She was thinking about everything that happened recently.

"Yes. What's wrong?" The Doctor asked her, sounding worried.

"Nothing." She denied instantly. She didn't want to tell him what she was thinking about. "I'm just admiring the view." She smiled up at him.

"It's nice, isn't it?" The Doctor asked. He believed her, it seemed.

"Words can't describe this." Celestia said admiringly. "Doctor, look. Our gondolier has got webbed fingers and toes." She said in a whisper.

"I wondered if you'd noticed that." The Doctor said, whispering back.

"And he's got a remarkable physique." Charley agreed with them.

"I'll snooze, I think, while you chat him up." The Doctor told Charley.

"Only you could snooze on the Day of Judgement." Charley said. Celestia snorted at that.

"Celestia." The Doctor said as he looked down at her pointedly.

"Oh right, sorry." She said as she removed her head from his shoulder. This time The Doctor put his head on her lap. She smiled at this. He always loved to do this when he was in a bad mood or when he needed to think. It helped him somehow.

"I'm lying back here in the depths of melancholic thought. I think just as you cheered up, I caught a chill of gloom." The Doctor said. Celestia started stroking his hair to make him feel better. He closed his eyes, feeling much better already.

"Oh, wonderful." Charley said. She couldn't help but feel jealous to see that The Doctor always felt comfortable around Celestia.

"You three aren't like the others."Their gondolier told them.

"Oh. You were listening." Charley said.

"I am Pietro." He introduced himself.

"Charley." She introduced herself. "He's The Doctor, asleep over there, and she's Celestia."

"Not asleep, thinking. Having profound thoughts." The Doctor said.

"Of course, Doctor." Charley rolled her eyes. "Tell me, how are we different, Pietro?" She asked him.
