The rain poured heavily upon the soldiers, all without ceasing to stop. Capes, boots, feet, hoods, the scouts were drenched to the brim. They all wanted to head home from the grueling fight and rid themselves of the memories made that day. The rain was of no help, it was only adding on to the dreadful presence of grief.

With his arm around your shoulder, Levi leaned his body against your left side. You took hold of his hand that was over your shoulder and placed the palm of your other hand on his back to steady his walk.

Levi was limping, and with the hours spend on the battlefield, the both of you were tired; however, it could not compare to how tired Levi was. His head hung low as you made your way steadily back to his office. His bangs covered his eyes as water slide down his pale complexion, but you couldn't quite tell if it were his tears that fell or the droplets from the rain that raged outside. His breathing was steady, but the pain he felt from walking was too much to bear.

"We'll be alright" you reassured him, though you told it mostly to yourself.

His safety was your highest priority, and yet, he was hurt while you were still capable of walking. If it weren't for your recklessness to charge ahead to attack an abnormal, Levi wouldn't have to have interfered and hurt himself in the process of protecting you from a titan that was hiding amidst the buildings.

You cursed at yourself all the way back to his office. Carefully letting go of his arm, you opened the door and made your way to his bathroom, approaching the clean tiles that laid before you.

You placed Levi down, gently resting his back against the wall while you sat right beside him, catching your breath from the whole expedition and the thoughts that never ceased to stop. You looked to your left to see Levi's head still hung low, making you frown. Slowly bringing a hand up to him, it stopped midair when you paused, hesitating to touch him. Noticing your action, Levi slowly began to lift his head to look at your hand.

"I'm sorry..." you said, beginning to retract your hand from him, but instead, he gently took it and placed it upon his face. His face felt warm and you felt the wetness of his skin due to the rain and the possibility that he might have actually been crying. "Levi?"

He took in a large breathe before sighing, collecting his thoughts and attempting to ignore that pain that he was feeling coursing through his legs and frankly, his entire body.

"Are you...alright?" he breathed, suppressing the feeling as much as he could when he talked. You could tell that he was in so much pain, yet he was trying to hide it, even asking you if you were alright.

"I'm fine, but-" you scooted closer to him, positioning yourself in front of him as you were on your knees with a hand upon his face. "I'm sorry for causing you to be like this."

"It-" Levi hitched his breath as a sudden pain made its way to his chest, causing him to lunge over and scrunch up his face. Panicking, you began to pat his back, along with making motions with your hand to soothe his small fit of coughs.

"I'll go get some water" you said, beginning to stand up. He didn't want to be alone, not after what he saw, what he almost lost. With the strength he had left, he weakly held your wrist, making you turn your attention away from the door to him.

"D-don't go" he breathed, slowly resting his body back against the wall. "W-what if I lost you?" you were safe within the building, and yet he still worried about you.

"I won't go then" you responded back, sitting back down. "Why don't you take a bath?" you suggested. With the pain he was feeling, there could be a risk that he would get sick from the rain that he was drenched in.
