Letters (Levi x Reader)

"Today is a lovely day!" Section Commander Hanji announced to the cadets of the 104th Cadet Corps. "We'll be taking a day off from expeditions or any form of training."

The cadets all cheered at the announcement, ecstatic that they'd be free from having to do anything militaristic for the time being. As they all sat around the mess hall, the superiors, including yourself and Corporal Levi, stood beside Hanji for another announcement.

"You'll all be given the chance to write to your families!" you exclaimed happily, despite the pain that you felt from that one word.

And you weren't the only one.

The orphans of the 104th Cadet Corps, such as Eren and Armin, had no one to write to. While those such as Sasha who did have a family began writing to her father about her time in the military once she was provided a letter and quill. Along with Connie, he wrote to his whole family that he was doing alright, saying how much he loves them. For Jean, he had actually received a letter from his mother, to which he grimaced and grumbled at from what she had written.

You glanced around the mess hall and took notice that while Mikasa was beginning to write a letter to Eren, since she considered him as family, the others sat still, eyes conveying grief. You knew this would happen, so you suggested to be excused with Levi to the city of Wall Sina to purchase little gifts for them.

"Hanji?" you whispered to her ear as she was spectating the whole mess hall.

"Yes dear?" she replied back.

"Could I take Levi with me into town?" she cocked a brow, smirking at you. You waved your hands in front of you. "Not like that, sorta but- I wanted to do something for the cadets that have no one to write to. Since it was a last-minute thing Commander suggested, I didn't get the time to prepare anything" you explained.

She hummed, peering her gaze at Levi as he stood firmly, with crossed arms as his eyes were bestowed upon the cadets. "Why do you need to bring Levi with you?" she questioned. "You could very well go into town yourself."

"Well, I suppose I do want to spend some time with him, but also because I could take him to purchase new cleaning supplies" you answered, then, you leaned closer to her. "That and...he broke his broom the last time we cleaned together. It snapped in half that one almost whacked his face" you whispered, holding in a laugh.

This made Hanji chuckle lightly, "alright then, tell me how it goes," she consented.

You nodded, walking towards Levi. He looked at you as you smiled warmly at him. His crossed arms faltered as you approached, feeling the thumps of his heart beat rapidly. However, he did well with hiding the fact.  "What are you so happy for?" he inquired.

"Hanji allowed me to go purchase some things in Wall Sina. I was wondering if you'd like to tag along" you offered.

Levi lifted a brow. "What for? I have no purpose there, especially with those pigs around" Levi retorted, referring to the Military Police who would oftentimes walk around the wall like they had fought the titans.

"To purchase some things for the cadets, along with cleaning supplies since the last time we cleaned, you broke your broom" you chuckled.

Levi felt himself redden slightly when remembering that moment.

Eren just so happened to see the two of you, looking at how his Corporal's face was reddening. Upon seeing Eren's gaze towards him, Levi turned around and quickly grabbed your hand, dragging you along.

"Where's Captain (Y/N) and Corporal off to?" Armin asks Hanji, Eren wondering the same thing.

"Doing something nice...you'll see soon" she answered, lifting two letters for them to take.
