Basking in the rays of sunlight as one would do on a fairly sunny day, you were observing your cadets when you saw him by the corner of your eye. Smiling whenever you saw him, he took notice and stood beside you.

Glancing at him, you made some small talk. "Good morning, Levi. How's your day going?"

"Tch" he let out his usual scoff. Crossing his arms, his eyes loomed over the tired and restless soldiers. "If spilling your tea on your paperwork due tonight sounds like my day's going well, you'd be lying," he said, troubled by the events that had happened.

Mouthing a small 'o' in revelation, you patted his shoulder. "Sorry to hear that, did you ask Erwin for an extension?"

"Think Eyebrows would allow for an extension? It's paperwork on taxes." He informed, shuffling around for a bit.

You took notice of his face, seeming somewhat redder than usual. It was a sunny day out, but he looked really hot, his skin glowing in sweat. Blinking, you also saw how he sniffed a couple of times, not to mention the heat he was radiating off...

Concerned, you hesitantly lifted a hand to his forehead, alarmed by how hot it was. "Jeez! You must be sick Levi! Your forehead so hot!" You claimed.

He sniffed, glaring. "No, I'm not."

"But you are" you retorted. "I can bring you to the medical ward. The cadets are just about finished with their morning session" you insisted.

Still, he was reluctant to go. The medical ward of all places, home to blood, screams, and cries of agony, was and will never be his favorite place. So, he refused.

"I'd rather go to shittyglasses' lab than go there" he refused, with no concern over his own health whatsoever.

Rolling your eyes, you looked over at your cadets and notified them that they were free to go. After watching the last enter headquarters, you held his hands, forgetting that you could potentially get sick from doing it. "Then, I'll take care of you." You offered, running your hand gently across his own calloused ones. "I may need to meet with Hanji for an important discussion, but I don't mind making time for you."

His heart would audibly be heard if you listened close enough- he was sure of it. There was no doubt that you had warmed his heart with your words, considering your offer but...he didn't want to be a burden. He had lived his whole life taking care of himself and himself only, his own health will be of his own concern and no one else's. He won't mind looking after others, but that also meant forgetting to take care of himself from time to time. That was a part of him you hated.

He rested his eyes on you like you were the only woman he'd ever admire for decades to come. His gaze alone made you want to wrap your arms around him and never let go, even if the so-called gods would punish you for it as if it were a sin. But not now, as his dearest comrade, seeing him in such a state pained your heart.

"I'll take care of myself," he said, hoping it would be his final words on the matter.

Refusing to yet again let him go through something alone, even if it was just a mere sickness, you clutched his hand tightly. He stiffened by the action, noticed by you that you let go. "Sorry, I just- I just want to..." you tried to search for an excuse at the very least to justify your action. "I thought of a new soup recipe and I was wondering if you'd like to try it."

He knew what you were doing and didn't want any part of it. "Thank you but I'll have to decline. I need to get back to doing that paperwork."

"But-" He shook his head; his answer was final. Sulking, you cast your eyes down in disappointment. "If you ever need anything, you know where to find me."
