A lonely night was turned into a night of festivities as bright lights illuminated the ballroom. Men and women dressed formally, with tuxes that were as expensive as the likes of gold and dresses beautifully laced, brimmed with the finest silk and fine jewelry to accompany the beautiful woman who wore them.

Nights like these were not often, only on rare occasions would they be hosted to welcome and accommodate the alliance between the Eldians and Marleyans who they've sided with. By no means did any of them like the other, but if they were told to comply with the order to restrain from hating the Island Devils, they'd do so without hesitation.

Among the newest addition to these balls were the masks. They hid the faces of the Eldians and the Marleyans, concealing their identity in order to form a beautiful bond within the room. Tension released, a relaxation emerged as the music echoed throughout the room.

There you were, dancing as you've always done alone. Your mask was a bright color, like the sun's morning smile to greet the people below. Your eyes peered around as you twirled, enjoying your time as your dress moved along with you. While looking around, your eyes caught sight of a man, shorter than most, but gave off an uneasy sense of an undoubtedly strong aura. You liked it.

Levi wore a black tux with his signature cravat, a keepsake in memory of his mother. Adorning his face was a black mask; the left side of his face was slightly exposed, revealing his cheekbone and some parts of his nose. He was like the moon, glowing its light on the darkest parts of the world, differing from the sun that glowed her beautiful light on the beauty of life.

He didn't admit outright on how much he despised such festivities. He'd much rather train some pesky cadets than attend some bonding type order.

His hand delicately held the wine glass, swaying the red liquid to and fro, but decided to not drink it. The wine wasn't in his taste, he'd prefer tea. As he twirled the liquid, he felt an unusual tingling feeling snake the skin of his neck. Looking around, he caught your gaze.

Locked eyes were made, the masks concealing your identities as you both looked at each other. Giving a curt wave, you bowed, turning your back to him before he could look at you any longer.

Levi was lost for words, fazed by the admiration of a woman who seemed to have looked in his direction. Such an odd feeling, no less the thought. Scoffing, he furrowed his brows, setting his wine glass down before leaning against the wall, ecstatic to have the damn ball to be over with.

The clink of metal on glass grabbed the attention of the people, making them excuse their actions to look at the perpetrator. There stood a woman, smiling her pearly whites. "Thank you all for coming! I would love you all to line up in two rows. Woman on my left, and men on the right" she announced. Whispers immediately erupted, and you looked at the man you had just looked at. "Quiet down, now, once you've lined up, the person in front of you shall be your partner for the rest of the ball. Acquaint yourself with them, introduce yourself. We're all here to familiarize ourselves with each other." With that, the men have all gathered, and Levi had reluctantly done so too.

He grumbled under his breath, his frown evident to anyone who saw him. While the women have lined themselves up with the men they've wanted to dance with, there left only one spot open. In front of him, there was anyone. He sighed a sigh of relief until he saw someone take that empty space in front of him.

Greeting him with a smile, you grinned under your mask. Oh, how you loved annoying anyone you could tell was easily irritated. It amused you greatly. You could sense it right away when he scoffed under his breath, making you chuckle.
