Sleepless nights were common in an insomniac, and Levi was one. Countless nights were spent doing his paperwork, to get the deadlines in, but the pile of work just grows exponentially; therefore, no matter how much he tried to complete them, he couldn't. Most times when he was finished, his mind couldn't process that thought when it's running laps on his fear, his failure, his troubles... which doesn't ease his mind every time he closes his eyes. As a result, he tends to skip his sleep, ignoring your persistence that he should rest. He gave no reason, no matter how much you wanted to help. The man was simply lacking sleep.

You sighed. You stretched your arms and cracked a few joints from hunching your back for so long. Peering out the window, you watched as night fell and suspected that Levi was probably working late into the night. The cadets have all gone to sleep, and your suspicions were right when you saw light peeking through his mahogany door. As a resolve, you decided to make him some tea. After all, you cared about him deeply.

You covered your mouth and entered the kitchen, attempting to cover your tiredness. Just as you were about to reach the cabinet, a voice called out to you.

"(Y/N)?" a quiet but deep voice called out.

Turning around, your eyes fell upon blond hair. You laughed inwardly at the sight of Erwin in his less formal attires. He adorned on a regular white t-shirt that showed off his muscles; years of rigorous training has gone to create such impeccable strength. He wore boxers that matched his shirt and he seemed tired as you were, if not worse since he was the Commander.

Humming, you smiled faintly at him before responding, "yes sir?"

He waved you off. "No need for formalities" he stated. He leaned his back on the kitchen counter, observing you. "Are you making tea?"

"I am, would you like some?" you inquired.

Erwin nodded. "I would love some, thank you."

The minutes went by in a flash as you prepared the tea. Afterward, you poured the tea into a cup, gently encasing it between both your palms before handing it to him. He thanked you, taking a sip of your tea before humming at the taste. Eventually, you poured your own and one for Levi.

"Another cup?" Erwin asked, lifting his brow at the extra cup since he had no idea that another person was awake.

You nodded. "One for Levi" you answered. "He stays up fairly late finishing the shitload of paperwork you assigned to him," you say, getting comfortable in the atmosphere of the kitchen.

Erwin has always regarded you as an equal, especially with your skill and intellect, he saw great potential in you. Thus, he recommended you to Levi's squad, and at first, he reprimanded the idea, seeing no use for you. But his words were taken back when he saw just exactly what Erwin saw in you, and was soon lost for words.

The silence was nonetheless comfortable, having tea with your Commander felt reassuring. Such a calm mood was needed when the reputation of the Survey Corps was going downhill. Countless lives were being thrown around carelessly by the hands of Erwin, and you knew that he felt worse each time. He acted as the devil, well as most perceive him as.

The truth of the titans, the truth of what they were has plagued your mind and some of the superiors. Internally accepting that these lives were done to achieve the dream of saving humanity, but to Erwin, you knew that these lives were only pawns for his personal dream.

What made it worse was Levi's sole devotion and loyalty to the man. To agree every command to help achieve the Commander's dream...it took a toll. To accept that countless lives were in vain took a hit on Levi and you could see through the facade of lies he told to you. You knew he wasn't fine, and the way his face conveyed fear and grief told you it.
