Was being a princess meant to be a blessing? With the privilege of maids at your every beck and call? The multitude of men who wished to take your hand in marriage? Of course, anyone would be happy to live in luxury with no worry of going hungry or sleeping in the streets, but you weren't.

The castle stood for centuries, habited by your family for many generations that with each successor to the throne, a new land would be erected to honor the previous king. It was a room of remembrance, but every time you entered to pay your respects, you felt an immense feeling of uneasiness within the large spacious room. Who needed that much space anyway? You'd often think to yourself. Why build something so large for someone who had done nothing to change the kingdom? Why not put the wealth your family had stored towards the people?

These thoughts were like adventurers in your mind, scouring each and every part until they could no longer camp anymore but all around; there was no final destination.

During sometime just before lunch, you fiddled with your fingers, scraping the soles with the sharp end of the other in need of something to do. The blabbering of your teacher who taught you the history of your past and the so-called legacy of your family brought annoyance to your sense of pride that every time you left the room, you had a lingering taste of something bitter rooted in your taste buds.

There was nothing great about your family other than a few liberations on oppressed lands, and even then, there was no other redeeming quality.

About an hour later, at last, you were free from the hellhole. Your feet padded along the hallway, large and carpeted with red silk. You'd much rather feel the cobblestone beneath, to be one with something, to feel something different, but all you felt was softness and nothing more than that.

Sighing, you made your way to your knights because you hoped to see a particular one. Approaching their quarters, you straightened your back and tucked your hair behind your ear. You hoped you looked fine, even though to the eyes of many you were the most beautiful woman of all the kingdom.

Just as you were going to knock, the door was clicked open and it revealed a toned chest. Looking up, you noticed the surprised eyes of blue. "Your highness" he bowed, "what brings you here?"

"I wanted to visit my favorite knights" you replied.

Through the gap of the door, Hanji was just passing by when she saw you. Elated that you were there, she pushed Erwin aside and grasped your hand, bringing you inside with a giant bear hug. "Oh! It's so lovely to see you!" She said, and you could hear the joy through her words.

"It's always lovely to see you too, Hanji" you replied back. She pulled away and you took the chance to look around a bit before noticing that he was nowhere in sight. "Where's Levi?"

Hanji smirked, an unusual sight to see. It was like she knew something you didn't, and wouldn't be willing to tell you about it either. "My~ Are you that eager to see him?~"

Erwin chuckled as he closed the door, noticing your fingers tugging at the ruffles of your dress.

"I'm always eager to see him as much as I do seeing you two" you said, but Hanji wasn't convinced.

She squinted her eyes and you tried to hold her gaze, and luckily, years of having to fake your attention towards that teacher of yours allowed you to succeed.

Smiling lowly, she gave a defeated shrug before heading over to her training spot. "Since you really want to know," stopping to look at you as she lifted up her sword, "he's having a dual with Theo."

"Theo?" You said. "Who is he?"

Erwin made his way over to a towel to wipe of his sweat running along his chest and forehead. "He's a new recruit to the royal army and has been challenging Levi lately to prove himself worthy of being one of your personal knights."
