Lucy locked herself in her bedroom, her thoughts ricocheting in her brain.

How could Abe think sending her back to Beauxbatons is a good idea! How could Sawyer agree!

"I cannot believe it!" Lucy shrieked, throwing a pillow across the room, it hit the wall and fell to the ground with an unsatisfying 'oomph'.

"Boys are idiots," a sing-song voice sighed.

Lucy jumped and spun around quickly.

Sitting on the corner of her bed was a girl picking at her nails, she had long, silky blonde hair that fell like a curtain around her face.

"Who are you?" Lucy gasped clutching at her chest.

The girl froze and look up slowly with piercing blue eyes, her skin was nearly translucent and her features reminded Lucy of a doll.

"You can see me?" She raised and eyebrow, standing from the bed, "Lucille Evans, you are not allowed to be dead!"

"I'm not dead," Lucy said, "but you are."

"Obviously," she scoffed, narrowing her eyes as she gave Lucy a once over, "tell me then, how can you see me?"

"I can see ghosts sometimes," Lucy said, "I've seen you before."

The girl stepped back and her eyes widened, "have you now?"

"Yes," Lucy pressed her lips together, trying to remember where she recognized the girl.

"When?"

"You were at Hagrid's!" Lucy nearly shouted in triumph, "just for a second! I heard you laugh and you disappeared!"

"So you did see me," she laughed lightly, returning to her spot on Lucy's bed.

"Who are you?" Lucy frowned.

"Avery Thorton," she said in a bored voice but the corner of her lips curled into a smirk, "but you can call me Avie, I always resented my parents for naming me Avery, it was my mother's maiden name, you see, horrible people they were."

"You're Avie?" Lucy said in shock, "Sawyer's sister?"

"Yes, come on Lucy, I know you're smart, please do keep up, he did tell you about me? Yes?"

"Yes," Lucy confirmed.

"Good," Avie leaned back, "that'll save some time, not having to explain and everything."

"You said your mother's maiden name was Avery?" Lucy asked, "she was a pureblood?"

"Yeah, yeah," Avie snorted, "Mum was a pureblood, dad was a halfblood, Sawyer's quite lucky actually, that they didn't raise him, they were very possibly the most shite parents."

"You raised him," Lucy said as a statement, not a question.

"I did," Avie's expression softened, "Sawyer was one of the only happy things in my life, I remember being so upset when I was dying, not because I was you know...dying...but because he had to see me like that and know I was leaving him."

She took a deep breath and smiled at Lucy.

"But it worked out," she said, "the life he has is so much better than anything I would've envisioned. Knowing he has someone who loves him the way you do makes me so happy, the two of you will have a beautiful life together and I am honored to be able to see it."
