Echoing screams became louder and louder as they ran.

Lucy gasped, Katie Bell was on the ground, screaming a writhing.

"She's been cursed!" Harry hollered, "I don't know what happened."

"I'm too old for this shit," Aberforth swore loudly, pushing through the gathered crowd, "everyone get out of the way!"

He scooped Katie up into his arms, taking off towards the castle at a sprint.

"Damn, I didn't know he had it in him," Sawyer watched Abe run, "he's pretty fast."

"Yeah," Lucy covered her mouth so nobody saw her laugh, it was most definitely not the time or place for laughter.

"Harry!" Remus yelled as Harry bent down to grab something off the ground, "do not touch that!"

Sirius bent down next to his godson, taking off his scarf, using it to pick up what looked like a necklace, "I'm taking it to the castle," he announced, going down the same path Aberforth did.

"Professor Lupin," someone said hesitantly from the crowd, "is Katie going to be ok? It just all happened so quick."

"I'm positive Madam Pomfrey is going to provide Ms. Bell with the best possible care," Remus said reassuringly.

"Professor, you should come back to Hogwarts," someone said, "you were the best teacher we've ever had."

The whole crowd voiced their agreement.

A bittersweet smile graced Remus's face, "maybe one day," he said apologetically.

They groaned.

"Snape is terrible!" Someone complained, "I'm going to fail my N.E.W.T!"

"Luce!" Harry whispered, beckoning her over.

Lucy grabbed Sawyer's wrist and together they joined the huddle, Harry, Ron and Hermione had formed.

"What?" Lucy asked.

"Malfoy knows about the necklace," Harry said, "It was in a case at Borgin and Burkes four years ago, I saw him having a good look at it while I was hiding from him and his dad. I bet you he went back for it, I think he cursed Katie."

Lucy couldn't help the scowl that formed on her face, "honestly Harry!" She snapped, "leave him alone."

Harry gawked at her, "Luce—"

"She's right," Sawyer interrupted, crossing his arms, "have you even stopped to think why he ran away? Why he was missing for a month?"

"Well we don't know he ran away," Harry argued, "it's probably all a coverup, we know the media reports fake news all the time."

Lucy took a sharp breath, turned on her heel and walked away.

"Lucy! Where are you going?" Harry called after her.

"I need a drink!" Lucy groaned.

One by one, the group slowly trickled into the Hogsheads, not saying anything, merely sitting at the bar, various drinks in their hands.

"What're we doing?" Aberforth and Sirius were the last ones to walk inside the pub.

Remus quickly drank the rest of his firewhiskey before clearing his throat, "how's Katie?"

"It's not good," Sirius grimaced, "Poppy's doing all she can but it's up to Katie whether to pull through or not."

"I spoke to her friend," Hermione spoke, "Leanne, she says Katie was imperiused."

Aberforth grunted, pouring himself some mead.

"I know who did it," Harry said.

"Harry—" Lucy said warningly.

"Not here," Aberforth held up a hand, "come on, let's go back to the apartment."

They all stood at once, following the bar owner to the back of the establishment.

"Make yourselves at home," Aberforth mumbled, gesturing to the couches, "Lucille, Sawyer, a word please."

They followed him into the kitchen.

"What is it? Abe?" Sawyer asked.

"Nothing, it's just," Aberforth sighed, "I don't think you guys should be seen around Harry too much in public, especially you, Lu. It's just too dangerous, someone could figure out who you are."

"I don't see why it's a big deal if people know Harry's my brother," Lucy said, "it doesn't make me special or anything, I'm just the sister of the chosen one."

"But you are special, Luce," Aberforth said, "your powers...if someone learned what you could do..."

"Nobody would be able to figure that out from the fact that I'm a Potter," Lucy laughed, "it's not like there's a family history of seeing the dead."

"Speaking of which," Sawyer said, "Lucy was able to touch her mother today."

"Sawyer!" Lucy glared.

"He should know, Lucille," Sawyer frowned, "it's really not good."

"That's not good at all," Aberforth's face creased in worry, "I don't know who to take you to for this type of thing."

"I'll go to Madam Pomfrey when we get back to the castle," Lucy settled, "let's go back, they're all waiting for us."

The three of them hurried back into the sitting room, filling the empty spaces on the couches.

"Harry, you were saying you knew who did it," Remus prompted once everyone was settled.

Harry nodded, "Draco Malfoy."

"Oi!" Aberforth frowned, "don't be accusing someone with no proof now."

"I know he knows about that necklace," Harry said, "the one that cursed Katie, he was looking at in at Borgin and Burkes four years ago."

"You know how many people go in and out of that store," Sawyer raised an eyebrow, "so what he looked at the necklace four years ago, that's hardly even a lead."

"I know him," Harry said, "I'm telling you, he did this."

"None of that, now," Abe said irritable, "Draco Malfoy is a good kid, he didn't do it, he's not even in Hogsmeade."

"Why do you lot keep defending him?" Harry asked suspiciously.

"Now, Harry," Sirius huffed, "I think you should think this one through. If Draco Malfoy really did run away from home, why would he risk being seen and taken back just to curse Katie Bell, something he could've easily have just done at school. They have a point."

"That's what he wants you to think," Harry said, "it's all a set up, I bet you he didn't even run away, I bet you he's a death eater, just like his fath—"

"Enough!" Sawyer slammed his fist against the coffee table, "you," he glared at Harry, "know absolutely nothing. So I'd do yourself a favor and quit it now."

Lucy put a hand on Sawyer's shoulder, pushing him back into his seat.

Harry stared at the Hufflepuff with an indignant look.

"So what you're saying is you trust Malfoy more than you trust me? All of you?"

There was no answer as noise came from the hallway.

"Abe! Luce! Sawyer! You here? Sorry I'm late! I was held up talking to Snape...are we still on..."

Eight people snapped their neck to the doorway and eight pairs of eyes settled on the blond boy who had just walked in.

"...for dinner?" Draco cringed.
