"Hey, Luce, can you help me on this charms paper?" Ginny asked, looking up from her stack of papers, "you did it already, didn't you?"

They were sitting in their dormitory, homework, textbooks and hot-chocolate cups surrounded them.

"Yeah, sure," Lucy sighed, throwing the magazine she was flipping through onto her bed.

"What were you shopping for?" Ginny furrowed her eyebrows as Lucy came to sit besides her, "it was just Christmas."

"Sawyer's birthday is this month," Lucy answered, reading through Ginny's paper, "it's his seventeenth, I'm not sure what to get him."

"You'll figure something out," Ginny reassured her.

"Yeah," Lucy sighed, "you need a coma here..."

"Mass breakout...Azkaban...ministry...Black," Lucy scanned through the title on the front page of the daily prophet the next morning.

"They're blaming Sirius Black?" Ginny grabbed the paper from Lucy's hands.

Lucy shrugged, concern growing on her features, "do they say who escaped?"

"It only mentions Bellatrix Lestrange," Ginny replied, frowning deeply at the words she was reading.

Lucy looked up as an unfamiliar owl perched itself besides her plate of eggs, sticking it's leg out for her. Lucy untied the envelope from the owl's leg and it flew away before she could even give it a treat.

"Who's it from?" Ginny asked.

"Not sure," Lucy frowned, looking down at the letter in her hand. It was an emerald green envelope, Lucille Rose written in a messy script on the front in pure, white ink.

"Well, what're you waiting for?" Ginny urged, "open it."

"Alright," Lucy hesitantly agreed, breaking the seal on the back of the envelope.

Lucille Rose,

I thought you'd like to have this, it was your mother's, I hope I get to meet you someday soon, your parents would've been so proud of you.

Lucy shook the envelope upside down and a delicate ring fell into her palm.

The silver band was thin, covered in tiny, white diamonds, the center, an emerald, the exact shade of Lucy's eyes.

"It's gorgeous," Ginny gasped, leaning over Lucy's shoulder, "who gave it to you?"

"I'm not sure?" Lucy frowned at the ring in her hand, passing the letter to Ginny.

She turned around in her seat, scanning the Hufflepuff table for Sawyer. She frowned when she didn't find him, he never sat too far from her.

"Sid!" She called, hoping to get the stringy boy's attention. She was successful as he looked up from his food and turned towards her.

"Hey, Lucy! What's up?"

"Have you seen Sawyer?" Lucy asked him.

"No, he wasn't in his bed this morning, I think he went out early."

Lucy's frown deepened, "ok, thanks Sid."

"I wouldn't worry about it, Lucy," Sid flashed a smile, "he'll turn up, he probably just went to the library to study."

A panic rose through Lucy's being, what if he was missing again?

"I'm going to go look for him,, Lucy told Ginny.

The youngest Weasley nodded, handing Lucy her letter.

Lucy slipped it into the pocket, along with the silver engagement ring.

"I'll meet you in Herbology," Lucy said, straightening her skirt.

"Where are you going?" She passed Harry Potter on her way out of the Great Hall.

Lucy jumped, startled, "oh, morning, Harry, I'm going to look for Sawyer, have you seen him?"

Harry didn't appear to have heard her, his glance was set on the pocket of her robe, where the envelope that held the letter was peaking out.

"Who sent that?" Harry looked at her quizzically.

"I don't know," Lucy found herself self-conscious about the random letter, she didn't know if she wanted to tell Harry about the contents. "Listen, Harry, I really ought to be off, I'll catch up with you later!"

She didn't give the boy a chance to say something as she took off down the corridor.

Lucy didn't realize there was someone coming up the stairs that lead to the dungeon until it was too late, she crashed into them and would've hit the floor if they didn't catch her in time.

"We've got to stop meeting this way," Draco Malfoy breathed, as he steadied her on her feet.

"Sorry," Lucy breathed, not realizing the way the slytherin's hands lingered on her waist.

"What has you in such a hurry, Evans?"

"Sawyer," Lucy cleared her throat, "I'm looking for Sawyer, have you seen him."

Draco's hands immediately dropped to his sides and he stepped away from the redhead, "of course, Thorton," he sighed, running a hand through his blond hair, "no, I haven't seen him."

"Oh, ok, thanks..." Lucy said, however, the blond didn't seem to hear her, he turned on his heel and walked away.

Lucy watched him go, trying not to be offended. She also couldn't help but feel bad because she had done the same thing to Harry minutes before.

She shook her head and turned around, deciding to try the library first.

"There you are," Lucy sighed as she climbed the last stair to the astronomy tower, "I've been looking for you all morning, I was worried." She walked forward and leaned on the railing beside the Hufflepuff. The bitter January wind making her nose pink.

"Sorry," Sawyer answered, his voice hoarse.

"Are you alright?" Lucy placed a hand delicately on his arm, her voice laced with concern.

Sawyer didn't answer but instead pulled her into a tight hug.

"I love you," he murmured into her auburn locks, pulling away to place a kiss on her forehead.

Lucy pulled back so she could look at him properly.

His eyes were puffy and his face was red.

"What's the matter?" She whispered, bringing a hand up to his cheek, wiping a tear that leaked from the corner of his eye.

"Nothing," Sawyer shook his head taking a deep breath, in an attempt to compose himself, "you should be in Herbology."

"That's not important," Lucy gave a small smile, "I'll put up with an angry Ginny."

Sawyer laughed brittlely, "are you sure? She really has a Weasley temper, Ginny."

"I can't argue with that," Lucy laughed, letting herself fall back into the tall boy's embrace.

She pushed the green envelope further into her pocket, there wasn't a need to bring it up in the moment. She would speak to him about it later.

"Love you," she murmured into his cloak.
