"Good afternoon, Albus," Lucy smiled at the old man. McGonagall looked startled.

"I trust your summer has been good?" Albus beckoned for them to come to sit.

"Oh, yes," Lucy said, walking forward, "Abeforth and I have been really busy with the pub, I'm very excited to be closer to home this year."

"As I thought you would be," Dumbledore's eyes twinkled, "and you, Mr. Thorton?"

"All is well, Sir," Sawyer stood behind Lucy's chair, "I'm looking forward to this semester."

"Are you ready to be sorted, Lucille?" Dumbledore smiled kindly.

Lucy chewed on her lower lip, internally she was screaming.

"Yes."

Dumbledore retrieved a patched, old hat from a shelf.

"This is the Sorting Hat," he explained, "I'm going to place it on your head and it will sort you into Hufflepuff, Ravenclaw, Slytherin or Gryffindor."

Lucy nodded, she reached back to grasp Sawyer's arm as Albus Dumbledore lowered the hat onto her head.

It fell over her eyes, blocking out the world around her. All she could see was black.

'My, very interesting'

A voice rang through Lucy's head, causing her to jump in shock.

'A Beauxbatons student. Quick-witted, bravery beyond compare, loyalty yet mischievous and sly, my dear you would strive no matter where I place you.'

Lucy was frozen, she didn't know what to do.

'you have a very big role in our future, I would be doing you a great disservice if I placed you anywhere but...'

"Gryffindor!"

Lucy let out a breath of relief as the hat was taken off her head.

"Congratulations, Luce!" she saw Sawyer's grinning face leaning over her, "of course, I would've loved you to be in Hufflepuff like me, but I did expect this."

"Yes, congratulations, Ms. Evans," Dumbledore beamed at her, "Professor McGonagall is head of Gryffindor House."

"We are glad to have you," McGonagall smiled.

"Now that that is done with and out of the way," Dumbledore clapped, "let's begin your orientation! Breakfast is served in the Great Hall from six thirty  to eight fifty Monday through Friday. On the weekends breakfast is served from eight to ten o'clock. Classes begin at nine o'clock each morning, you will have three to five classes Monday through Friday, two in the morning, then a break for lunch. Classes resume at one o'clock and you will have either one or two more classes before supper which is served from five to seven o'clock daily. You are expected to be back in your dormitories by curfew at nine o'clock."

"The fifth class of the day would be Astronomy," McGonagall piped in.

Lucy nodded, signaling Albus to continue.

"You are required to be in uniform during lessons, while studying in the library or when in the Great Hall for formal meals," Dumbledore said, "during your free time, you are allowed to dress casually. The Forbidden Forest is off limits to all students and there is no use of magic in the corridors."

Dumbledore continued reciting the school rules while Lucille listened intently.

"Finally, we have received your transcript from Beauxbatons and officially completed your transfer to Hogwarts," Dumbledore smiled, "the administration at Beauxbatons told me to wish you well and inform you that you may decide to come back to France at any time."
