Billie: Adie went to the door and turned over to us again skeptically and gave us a warning look "behave," she said commandingly. We both looked as innocent as possible and nodded obediently.Adie went out and closed the door behind her. Still confused, I stood there and asked myself what he wanted to talk to me about... "Please sit down..." he said with a slightly sickly voice. I nodded and sat down in the armchair across from the bed. Charlie: *Damn, I didn't know how to talk to him... I was grateful that he was here and was taking care of Adie. But deep down there was still anger between both of us, I couldn't deny it. I wanted to ask him a big favor... and was scared that he would say no. I was afraid that he would say no just to hurt me. But I know how much he loves Adie and that he would do anything for her. So I hoped that he would say yes for her... "I... ehh... I don't know how far Evelyn has informed you about everything... I... I asked her to call you ..." "You?" he asked confused. "Yeah... the last few months have not been easy for Adie. I tried to talk to her. All of our friends/family tried their best, but she didn't listen... I knew that you were the only one who could help her. And it looks like you've succeeded. I'm very grateful for that!!" Billie: Charlie finished the sentence and started coughing heavily. His voice kept breaking away while talking. It wasn't easy for him to keep his head upright... When I wanted to call a nurse, he waved me back with his arm and croaked that everything was fine. "Are you sure?" I asked concerned, and he nodded heavily. He tipped his head back and closed his eyes and took a few deep breaths. His lungs sounded like a machine... with each breath they made noises as if he were suffocating... "Thanks for asking Evelyn to call me. I can imagine that I wasn't your first choice... but you did put her health first, as always. You said you wanted to talk to me about something? May I ask you about what? " He breathed calmly in and out a few times and kept his eyes closed. "I'm sorry, I didn't mean to rush you. Please take your time..." I felt a little helpless. He seemed to be in pain, but I didn't know how to help him...
