*A few days later* Billie: It was New Year’s Eve 2006.Exactly two weeks ago today, Charlie passed away and Adie has been unrecognizable since then... I tried my best to help her, but I didn't know how. I talked to her all day, she seemed to be listening to me... but never answered. Christmas 2006 felt like a punishment... Adie & I did spend the whole last two weeks at his grave. *Charlie Elijah Sheppard. 17th March 1974 - 17th December 2006. Loving husband, son, grandson, brother, friend* I had the feeling that it helped her that it made her feel closer to him... It was freezing because it was winter. So after a few hours we always had to go... It was a daily struggle to get her out of there... she never wanted to go home. I had to carry her home every day because she resisted... Today was December 31st, 2006, it was already in the middle of the night. Adie took two sleeping pills and slept the whole day long. I was standing in the kitchen making her something to eat. While I was squeezing fresh orange juice for her, I heard the rockets go off... It was New Year’s 2007. I was hoping this year would be better... and I hoped that I would be able to take the pain away from her. I can't replace Charlie, nobody could, he was unique... But I'll do my best to keep the promise I made to him... My thoughts were circling when I suddenly heard a loud crash... At first I thought it was coming from outside, but I still went upstairs to check on her. "Adie? Adie!!" I exclaimed worried when I saw her collapsed on the floor. I ran to her and tried to wake her up, but she didn't move... I saw that she vomited. I immediately called an ambulance, who was there in a few minutes. We immediately drove to the nearest clinic where she was examined directly... "How is she doing doctor?" I asked hysterically when the doctor came to the waiting room. "May I ask who you are? I am only allowed to give information to her relatives." "I... I am her husband ma'am." I felt bad lying to the doctor, but I need to know how she was doing. "Oh, the husband!! Then I have wonderful news for you. A beautiful start to the New Year 2007. Congratulations, Mr. Sheppard, your wife is pregnant, 3rd month..."
