~Chapter 14: New problems~

Amy smiled as she watched Jack play with Sarah in the backyard. It had been around two months since Jack had started sleeping with her in her room. Ever since then, he's had no nightmares and he's been getting a lot better. He's been eating more and sleeping a lot. He's gained his weight back and was almost back to normal! Amy couldn't have been more happy! She laughed when she saw Jack tickling her sister. He loved her like his own. Amy was wondering if Jack ever wanted children of his own, but decided not to ask as it wasn't important. After all, Jack's health was more important.

Oh, if Amy only knew what was to come....

It had been about three hours until finally the three came into the house. Jack had finally felt happy for the first time in a year. It felt good to have a family who you can call your own. Yeah, Jane and the girls were sure like a family, but this one is different. Jack, of course, had to decide whether he wanted to go back to the mansion or stay with Amy eventually but he had other things to worry about. "Goofball?" Jack snapped out of his thoughts when he heard his nickname. "Are you okay?" Jack gave a smile and shook his head. "Yeah. I'm fine. Just thinking." Amy giggled before her sister ran upstairs to take a bath with the help of their mother.

Of course, Jack had a crush on Amy. But he never said anything. He didn't want to lose her again. So, he kept it to himself. However, Jane knew something was up. She could see how he looked at Amy. So, she asked him one day.

Jane was visiting along with the girls when she noticed LJ staring at Amy. She also noticed he was....blushing. It didn't take her another look to know what was up. "Jack? May I talk to you for a moment?" "S-Sure Jane!" LJ stuttered as he followed Jane upstairs and into the guest bedroom. Once they were inside, Jane closed the door and sat down with Jack. "W-What did you want to talk about....?" The clown asked as he played with his fingers. Jane just gave him the signature 'I know you are up to something' smirk. "What?" LJ questioned, not liking the intentions of the smirk at all. "Amy is my future daughter-in-law, isn't she?" Jane asked, pretty smugly.

'HOW THE HELL DOES THIS WOMAN FIND THINGS OUT?!'

As if she read his mind, she answered; "Well, because I am more experienced in this field than anyone else." LJ groaned. Now Jane knew. Great. How much longer till it becomes the next breaking news? "Please don't tell her." LJ begged. He looked....ashamed. "Why do you look so upset Jack?" She asked. "How would you feel if you had feelings for your best friend?" He replied, flopping onto the bed. Jane sighed. " I-I would feel....." She trailed off. Of course, she had feelings for Clockwork, and just like him, she was afraid to admit them to her. "......feel scared. I would feel insecure about my choices. I would be afraid to confess, as to what if I ruined our friendship?" She stated, all the words being true. Jack had the same fears that she had. "Exactly how I feel. She's my best friend! And besides...." He sighed. "How could she love me back after all I put her through? I know she forgave me, but still...." "But it doesn't hurt to try, does it?" Jane suggested. LJ looked up, an idea popped up in his head. Jane had helped him a lot, so why didn't he help her too?

"I will confess to Amy if you confess to Clockwork." Jane's face turned red. "I....." Jane's voice trailed off.  Jane sighed but nodded. It was silent for a bit before Jack broke the silence. ".....Jane.....?" "Hmm?" Jane hummed in question. "When.....When will I know when the time is right to tell her.....?" Jack asked. Jane chuckled. "Your heart will tell you when the time is right." Jack hugged Jane, which caught her by surprise. But she hugged him back once the shock went away. "Thank you Jane." Jack spoke softly. Jane smiled and returned the hug. "That's what mothers do."

Jack was thinking about what Jane said ever since. How would his heart know when the time was right? 'I guess I'll know when I know.' He thought. Jack was about to get up from his seat and go talk with Rose when he started.....coughing. It was small for a couple of seconds, but then it turned into violent coughing. Soon, Jack couldn't even stand up. This caused Amy to rush in and fall to Jack's side. "Goofball!" She nearly screamed his nickname when she saw what was happening. After a few minutes, the fit calmed down and went away.
