TRICK OR TREAT, FREAK
"HONESTLY, MAX, I DON'T GET IT." She complained as she walked and Max skated through the hallways of Hawkins Middle School. It was pretty silent as not much people had the same energy they would at lunch as of now, yet it seemed as they were gaining that when they heard people shouting names at other people.
"You don't get it? What is there not to get?" She questioned back, building a temper.
"Going to the arcade like every two days is understandable," The two had passed Lucas and Dustin, who were now listening in on their conversation, "But every day? Like you're obsessed, Max. And plus, I find it overly annoying that you just assumed I wanted to go because I went once."
She was now putting her skateboard in her locker, replying with heavy sarcasm, "I'm sorry, Lila. Did you have a problem with what I spend my free time doing?" Max didn't leave any room for her response as she shut her locker and walked away.
Lila's eyes followed Max until she completely disappeared from her view. Her cold stare was the equivalent of burning holes into her back. She whipped around when she heard someone clearing their throat behind her, to find two boys standing there. As if telling them to speak, she raised an eyebrow.
The curly-haired boy took it upon himself to speak, fumbling over his words. "Hi... um Lila, I'm Dustin, and this is-"
"Lucas."
"So the stalkers have names?" She bitterly replied.
"Uh, yeah. I mean, no. We weren't stalking you and Max." Lucas answered, attempting to make it make sense.
"We were just concerned for you because you're new and all."
"Yeah, for your safety."
"My safety?" She questioned the two boys and their motives, quickly flashing her eyebrows.
"Yup, there are so many bullies here." Dustin nodded his head.
"So many bullies, it's crazy." Lucas stuttered.
"So that's why you're wearing that stupid outfit? What are you going bully busting or something?" She retorted, not noticing how much it hurt them to call their outfits stupid.
"No, no no. But, they do have a-" Dustin was about to show her the functions of it, but when he noted her struggling to keep up the image of having the slightest interest, he cut straight to the point. "So, we were talking last night, and you're new here, so you probably don't have any one to take you trick or treating."
