BY THE TIME DAY HAD ARRIVED, LILA WAS SLEEPING PEACFULLY, ONLY TO BE AWOKEN BY MAX BARGING IN HER DOOR. Once again, she had very few recollection of the previous night. What she did remember, she kept quiet. Not because she wanted to, but because she was willed to.
The girl was only half awake when Max started spewing orders and sentences at her, which all turned to a sack of nada as her barely awake mind mushed it all together.
What she was actually saying, was a code red that was sent to them by the boys, and that they needed them at the Wheeler's asap. When her mind started to register what the girl was saying, she pushed her out to find another outfit. Specifically, one that would cover her limbs.
After about five minutes, they had all finished changing, and left to go to Mike's house.
As they entered the basement, Will sat on a stool, Mike and Lucas sat on the couch, El sat on a chair, Max and Lila sat on the floor. Max crossed her legs while the latter had her chin resting on her knee.
"I didn't think it was anything at first. I mean, I think I just didn't want ot believe it. The first time I felt it was at Day of the Dead." Will started.
"Power went out that night too." Mike inputted.
"And then I felt it again at the field near the Nelson Farm the next day. Then again yesterday outside Castle Byers."
"What does it feel like?" Max asked, saying the question that was on Lila's mind.
"It's almost like... you know when you drop on a roller coaster?" He explained.
"Sure."
"Yeah."
"No."
Lila had almost forgotten that El had lost her childhood to lab experiments. Will looked down, fiddling with his hands. "It's like everything inside your body is just sinking all at once, but this s worse. Your body- it goes cold and-- and you can't breathe. I've felt it before. Whenever he was close."
"Whenever who was close?" Lila asked.
Will looked directly into her eyes, "The Mind Flayer. I almost feel it right now."
"I closed the gate."
He looked down before looking to El, "I know but, what if he never left? What if we locked him out here with us?"
