ONCE THEY GOT OFF THE BUS, THEY ARRIVED AT THE MALL. It felt weird to be there. Lila knew it wasn't the vast amount of people, since she had been there a few nights ago. The sun felt brighter than it usually was, and it was searing into her skin. Despite that, she knew she could play it off better than others, specifically her brother, so she did. He wanted her to play it off.

"So, what do you think?" Max glanced at El, causing Lila to as well. "Hey, what's wrong?"

"Too many people. Against the rules." She hadn't met her parents, but they did seem harsh.

"Seriously? You have superpowers. What's the worst that could happen?" Lila glanced at the two with wide eyes.

Her brows were raised, "Superpowers? Oh, I thought I recognised you." Realisation dawned upon her, as she recalled the story Lucas had told her and when she met someone that went by the name of El last year. As it did, she also felt a voice in the back of her head trying to tell her something.

Multiple conversations that went on in the background felt like nothing as they glanced around the familiar mall.

"So, what should we do first?" Max laughed, "You've never been shopping before, have you? Well, then I guess we're just gonna have to try everything."

Lila spotted The Gap, a shop that she had been wanting to go to. "Come on, this way." She pulled their arms as she led them to it.

They walked around it, before they stopped in front of a shirt that was on display. "Do you like that?" Max asked.

"How do I know... what I like?" Lila's brows lowed towards the girl, she thought that she couldn't be serious. Then again, she did grow up in a lab, according to Lucas.

"You just try things on. Until you find something that feels like you."

"Like me?" El questioned.

"Yeah. Not Hopper. Not Mike. You."

The three girls had been running around the mall, finding clothes for El. It was fun, and it was one of the first times they had been able to make her genuinely laugh.

While Eleven was trying on her new clothes, as her old ones looked years out of date, Lila looked at some sunglasses. One pair stuck out to her, it was plain black, tinted. She could see out but nobody could see in. When she approached it, her vision flickered, bringing her back to a certain memory she was trying to push out of her mind.
