IF ANYONE HAPPENED TO PASS BRIMBORN STEEL WORKS AT THAT VERY MOMENT, THE LEAST THEY WOULD BE FEELING IS CONCERN. Yet, a hooded figure watched from the safety of the trees, unseen.Due to the pained screams from a sibling duo and snarling creatures, the possibility that they would walk away from there fine would be very low.
Outside of the abandoned place, it was eerily silent for a few minutes subsequent to the disappearance. The blue Camaro was in fact, repaired. It couldn't really be called repaired as it was never broken in the first place.
The unidentified creature that had made them see something, caused him to lose control. It was the same unidentified creature that had made them see and hear the steam hissing from the car.
Suddenly, a tall figure exited the place, shortly after followed by a smaller one. They both ran to the car, in a hurry to not be captured by that thing again, despite the fact that it had already done its job, and was now relying on them.
The Camaro's tires screeched as he pulled up to a telephone box. He got out, motioning Lila to stay in the car. Her hands trembled with every second that passed. Glancing out of the windshield, she furrowed her brow as she noticed a spark from the telephone that Billy was attempting to contact on, and simultaneously the lights flickered.
She watched as he put down the phone, panting. Out of her peripheral vision, she saw multiple people, concealed by a cloud of fog. Lila slowly got out, walking towards the group of people. Stepping towards it, she noticed it to be her. Both Billy and Lila were unaware that the two were seeing similar things, different people.
The footsteps intensified as they approached. Unlike the older guy, Lila stayed silent as she was at a loss for words. A sudden thunderclap made her jump in fear, her eyes widening as her doppelganger approached her.
Flicking on the shower was her first mistake of the day. Usually, Lila loved warm showers. They made her want to stay in the bathroom for ever. But that was not the case this time.
When she turned it on, it felt as if she had only put on the hot water, and no cold water. It burnt her skin, making her squeal in pain as she attempted to move away from it. She shut it off completely, wondering what just happened.
It took her a few seconds to regain her thoughts to have them back on track, and when she did, she turned it on cold. That felt much, much better than having it on hot. It felt refreshing, really. Cold showers may have been her new favourite.
Back in her bedroom, she put on a striped pink and white shirt, with a matching pink trousers and white sandals. She wouldn't lie, this had to be her favourite outfit of the summer so far, despite that it had just started.
Lila admired herself in the mirror, before putting her hair in a half up-half down. It looked perfect. She left her bedroom to find Max, and a girl who looked familiar, yet she hadn't talked to before. The red-headed girl was standing directly outside her door, as if she was just going to knock.
Her eyes glanced back and forth between the two, silence overtaking them all. "What?" Lila asked, her lips pressed together. "Who are you?" This time, the question was directed to the brown haired girl.
Max squinted at her, before remembering that she had never been formally introduced to each other. "Right," She led the three in to Lila's room much to her displeasure, "Lila, this is El. El, this is Lila, my sister. We need to talk." She was the girl in the school once. That made sense.
"Step-sister." Lila corrected, sitting on the edge of her bed.
El tilted her head. "Step-sister?" Lila narrowed her eyes at El, before glancing to Max as if to say, Is she joking? Max took it upon herself to clear the girl's obvious confusion.
"I'm the daughter of her step-mother." Though she was still confused, Max continued. "Anyway, what did you want to talk about?"
So then, El explained the conversation she had with Mike earlier in the day. It was clear, that he was lying, and Lila didn't understand why she couldn't see that. She talked about how he said his grandmother was sick, although Hopper had cleared it up that she wasn't sick the previous day.
"And then he said he- he missed me. And then he just hung up." El finished.
"He's a piece of shit." Lila spoke her mind, while her hand rubbed the back of her neck as an attempt to relieve the discomfort she was feeling, yet she didn't know why.
"What?"
Max elaborated what Lila meant by her five simple words. "Mike doesn't have jack shit to do today, and his Nana obviously isn't sick. I guarantee you, him and Lucas are playing Atari right now."
"But friends don't lie." Wherever El had gotten that quote from, Lila didn't know, but she guessed Mike had told her that.
"Yeah, well, boyfriends lie. All the time." Max told her, while pacing the length of her step-sister's room.
Lila joked in an attempt to lighten the mood, "You got a lot of experience with that?"
"Yeah, actually, I have." That was a surprise. She didn't take Lucas as a guy to lie. "Okay. You're going to stop calling him. You're going to ignore his calls. As far as you're concerned, he doesn't exist."
El tilted her head again, before repeating what she said, "Doesn't exist?"
"He treated you like garbage. You're gonna treat him like garbage. Give him a taste of his own medicine."
"Give him the medicine." Lila rolled her eyes at the pairs boyfriend trouble. Her mind briefly drifted back to Will.
"Yep. And if he doesn't fix this, if he doesn't explain himself-"
Lila cut across, a grin on her face, knowing what the ginger was going to say. "Dump his ass." Max nodded at her.
"Come on." The ginger said to the two.
"Where are we going?" El asked.
"Yeah, Max, where are we going?"
" To have some fun. There's more to life than stupid boys, you know." Max answered, leading the two out of the house.
"I second that!"
