MAX, LILA, LUCAS AND WILL ALL WAITED FOR MIKE TO ARRIVE FROM VISITING EL. The two girls had arrived first, followed by Lucas, then Will. She was completely sure they had been waiting for at least an hour.

The newly-opened Starcourt mall was swarming with people who were ecstatic to find new clothes to wear, new shops to see, different ice cream flavours to try, and new movies to watch. A disadvantage of living in a small town, was that you rarely ever got any of it. Which explained how half of Hawkins' population was now crammed into one large building.

The previews were Lila's least favourite part of the movie, as she saw them as unnecessary. She couldn't say the same for the couple, though, or Will. Finally, after hearing the recently familiar ring of a bell, she looked up from her nails to find Mike putting his bike away on the rack.

His long awaited arrival caused Lucas to start voicing his complaints, which Lila couldn't help but agree with. "You're late! Again." To be fair, this was the third movie the group was watching in the mall, and the summer break had just started. Every time, Mike had been a minimum of fifteen minutes late.

"We're gonna miss the opening." Will expressed his annoyance too. Lila nodded her head in agreement.

Mike quickly tilted his head in the direction of the doors, " Yeah, if you keeping whining about it. Let's go!" He started to walk around the rack, towards the interior of the building.

"If you guys keep whining about it. Nyeh-nyeh-nyeh." Lucas mocked.

"Just please stop talking, dude." Mike whined.

Entering the mall, Lila couldn't help but feel as if it were unreal, like she was back in California again. There were so many shops, and so many people. Since 1984, she hadn't seen this much people around. It were as if they had been summoned from nowhere.

The overlapped chatters of multiple couples, families, and teens made it harder to hear her friends talking, mocking each other.

"Oh El, I wish we could make out forever, and never hang out with any of our friends."

"Lucas stop." Mike asked, his voice monotone.

"Will thinks it's funny." He countered.

Will agreed with Lucas, "Because it is."

"Yeah, it's so funny that I want to spend romantic time with my girlfriend."

"It most definitely is." Lila disagreed.
