WILL ENTERED THE ROOM, AND HIS EYES WERE ALREADY GLOSSING OVER. He approached her bedside, not hesitating to grab her hand carefully. Will assessed her still pale figure.
"Lila? It's me, Will." He asked, "Yes?"
"Will." She replied, trying to keep in tears that were rapidly forming.
"Hey, how you doing?" He immediately cringed at his question, "Sorry, bad question."
She gripped his hand, and he rubbed circles on the back of her hand. "No, no. It's not a bad question. Actually, can I tell you everything?"
"Yeah, go ahead."
"It feels like--" Her voice cracked, and a tear fell down the side of her face. Will reached over to wipe it with his thumb. "Like my whole body is on fire. Everything hurts, but I don't want to alarm anyone. I know something ha-- happened, and not a car crash, but it's probably nothing."
"I don't want to talk about it. What happened, I mean. But there is something I need to tell you." Will replied, a tear escaping his eye too.
"Really?"
"Yeah... I don't want you to cry, but... we're leaving." A sob left his mouth, and she heard it, and gripped his hand tighter. "Joyce said it was a surprise, where we're going to live, but I know it's not Hawkins. I don't want to leave, I don't want to leave you."
"Joyce?" She questioned, staring blankly at him for a few seconds. Lila raised an eyebrow, "Oh, your mom. Will, it wasn't your choice, okay? If you have to move, it isn't your fault." She immediately answered, in a verbal attempt to get him to calm down.
"No, I know. Hawkins, it just reminds me of where everything went wrong. Not you of course. 1983, I was trapped in the upside down. Last year, I got possessed by the mind flayer. This year, you did too. What's next? Someone dies?"
"Will, I shouldn't be the only thing keeping you here. If it gives you bad ideas, or memories, or feelings, you should move." She spoke, her voice raspy from lack of use, while tears fell down her face. "Your mom is right. I probably won't be able to go anywhere..."
"This is about you, not me, Lila. Is there anything you want to tell me?" He spoke, his voice breaking.
"Yeah... just, don't be a stranger, okay? I want us to still be friends. Whatever we were, before the whole thing happened, 'kay?"
