Ilvermorny: First Block

The first years are sorted and the principal gives a welcoming speech. The students officially receive their schedules, and then everyone heads off to their first class or tries to at least.

Bella looks down at her schedules and smiles at a magical map with the path to her first class highlighted in her house color. Skylark smiles down at her schedule.

"I'm Belladonna and this is my boyfriend, Blaise." Bella says.

"Want to meet up for lunch? Get to know each other? Since we already have one thing in common," Sky asks.

"Sure, sounds like fun." Bella says.

By this point, they have all walked out of the great hall, Blaise leans over and gives Bella a quick kiss, before turning down a hall away from them. "Love the magical map at the bottom of the schedule." Sky says after they all tell Blaise they'll see him later.

"Yeah, this would have been great to have at Hogwarts my first year or any year really with the shifting staircase." Bella says.

"Hogwarts that's cool. Our uncles told us that Hyacinth Potter disappeared with a sort of bang. A letter ranting to the entirety of the magical population there."

"And then she just disappeared. No one can find her anywhere and Albus Dumbledor is apparently doing everything in his power to find 'the savior of the light.' That is such a laugh," Thomas says. "See you later, Norville."

Norville leans over and kisses Sky on the cheek, "See you all later." He walks down a side hall.

"So what is your first class, Bella? Hope you don't mind me calling you that," Sky says. "Thomas and I have Advanced Potions."

"I just have Potions," Bella responds. "And you're fine."

"Then we're headed to the same place. Advanced potions is mostly just a self study class were you focus on more difficult potions than even seventh years brew. We just need a teacher to watch us when we brew." Thas explains

"I just hope it is not a complete and total bore. The questions on that placement test were so easy." Sky mumbles.

"So you were homeschooled or something?"

"Oh, yes, Norville, Thomas and I all were. Norville's mother is forcing him to attend because several of his grades are atrocious with Potions being the absolute worst. Thomas and I decided to attend as his moral support and for the social interaction."

"Sky actually got advanced placement in most of her subjects due to the fact she is a study queen."

"Well, here we are." Sky says, looking down at her map and turning toward a room on her right. "And she really didn't need to know that, Thomas."

They enter the classroom and Thomas and Sky take a couple seats in the back. Bella takes a seat in the middle of the classroom, a few rows in front of them. Severus walks in a few minutes later.

"Welcome to your sixth year of potions. I should not need to remind you about the preciseness of potions, though I just did anyway. Wands should not be out in my classroom unless a potion requires an incantation. All long hair should be pulled back during a potion making process. This may be into a ponytail, bun or braid. The longer the hair the more secure it needs to be." Papers appear in front of them, "This is my hopeful schedule for this class. The highlighted days are the days you will want to have your hair pulled back if necessary." He picks up a slip of paper from his desk, smiles and sets it back down. "We will now begin our first lesson. Those of you in sixth year potions pull out your books and open to chapter one. For the two of you in advanced potions, pull out your books and start reading them, your brewing days will correspond with the rest of the class."

The entire class fishes into their bags to produce their textbooks for the class. Snape has students read and just to be sure the other students are paying attention to the student reading, he asks questions at random intervals. Bella stays behind when the class is dismissed. "Is there something I can do for you, Miss. Le Faye?"

"I was just thinking, I believe you developed a sense of humor over the holidays, not to mention that your lesson seemed much more planned out this year than any of my years at Hogwarts."

"Well, I don't have Dumbledor sending me every which way over the holidays so I don't have time to plan my lessons and restock the medical potions needed. Plus he may have all the teachers doing other things other than lessons and lesson plans throughout the year."

"So a major stressor is out of your life."

"Yes. Umm, one other thing before you go, I would like to get to know you better." Bella smiles at him.

"We can talk some more after school, and you can tell me more about my mother," She says, turning to leave. She then pauses mid step, turns and briefly hugs him, before leaving.
