"He'd never do something like that." - Hoseok.
~~~~~~~
Jungkook let some tears roll down his cheeks as he stared at his own reflection in the mirror. "Why am I like this?" He questioned to no one in particular, making Hoseok - who was sitting on an ivory armchair in Jungkook's room - sigh.
"Because you're hoping. Stop that. Stop hoping for the unexpected to happen, stop hoping for her to dump Taehyung and run into your arms, because they've patched up." Hoseok spoke, trying his best to keep his voice low.
"Well I didn't know that I'd fall!" Jungkook turned to face him, showing him his red and puffy eyes that made his heart ache. "And I didn't know that I'd be in too deep" His voice returned to normal, looking down at his hands.
"Jungkook, I'm tired of this. What's wrong with having Irene!?" Hoseok stood up, frustrated from the younger's behavior. "She's not her! She's not Lisa!" He yelled back, some bottles of expensive perfumes flying to the floor and shattering to pieces.
The more Jungkook had tried to distance himself from Lisa, the more he found himself coming back to her.
No, he never intended to ruin his best friend's relationship.
No, he never thought about Lisa in that way before, until he had realized his feelings.
And no, he still didn't want to hurt Taehyung and tell him about wat he felt for Lisa.
"Well, what do you want then? Should I ask her to come back from Maldives and deal with how you feel for her?" Hoseok asked, knowing that his words were harsh, but he was too angry to think about that right now.
"I want her, I want her so bad, hyung" Jungkook cried, burying his face in his palms. Hoseok said nothing; he knew this was the second time Jungkook had gotten his heart broken, and this had ended worse than the first one.
"Why? Why does it always have to be me?" He kept listening to Jungkook's mumbles in between his sobs. "You . . need some space. I'll be back later, don't do anything stupid" Hoseok warned him as he closed the door behind him, stepping out of his room.
He actually felt bad about saying whatever he said earlier, but he was truly exhausted from the situations Jungkook kept putting himself in, even when he knew that it won't end well.
"What happened, son?" Jungkook's mother asked him as he reached the end of the staircase. He stopped and held the railing with one hand, sighing as he looked away from the woman who had worry written all over her face.
"Mom, please give him some time. He's going through some things, and I think he really needs to sort out his thoughts to realize what's right and what he wants." Hoseok told her, giving her a small smile.
Yes, he called his mother mom too. Ever since he had told Jungkook about his past, he and his parents invited him to stay with them and treated him as their own son. They were very nice, and had helped Hoseok a lot. They had never differentiated between Jungkook or Hoseok, treating them as equal.
"Alright, but are you sure he won't do something . . ." She trailed off, afraid to even say it. Hoseok held her hands, looking into her eyes. "Yes, I assure you. Maybe he's not in his mind right now, but he'd never do something like that." He reassured.
At least not over a girl, thought Hoseok.
"He's not that brave, mom. He's not that brave to leave you, dad or me behind. He can never see us in tears just because of him, he won't be doing anything like that." He told her, easing her. "I trust you," She nodded, smiling back at him.
I trust you.
Everything that destroyed Hoseok's life had begun from those three words. Those words that he had told his parents, his friends, and all those people who left him.
Hoseok brushed his thoughts off and went to the door, glancing back at her for a moment before leaving.
Jisoo was walking to god knows where. She didn't know where she was going, but she did know that this walk was making her feel great because it had been quite a time since she had taken a walk alone.
A cold breeze passed by, telling her that winter was just around the corner. Jisoo smiled, crossing her arms as she gazed at the beach that was on her right. The sun was setting, turning the sky into beautiful shades of purple, blue and orange.
A sudden 'ding' of her phone caused her to stop in her tracks for a second as she fished her phone in her black purse. She unlocked her phone and saw that it was a notification from Instagram, she quickly opened it and saw Taehyung had posted some pictures with Lisa.
In that moment, Jisoo realized it.
She was no longer in love with Taehyung, because she didn't feel that pang in her chest when she saw the two with big smiles on their faces in the pictures. She smiled at her own self, mentally praising herself for finally letting it go.
She put her phone back in her purse and stared ahead, admiring the beauty of nature. Her eyes caught a bench, and a figure was sitting on it as she saw him watching a girl playing in the water. Maybe they're a couple, Jisoo wondered.
He then stood up and grabbed her hand, kneeling down. Jisoo stood there, watching the scene unfold right in front of her. He had proposed, and she had accepted. And when the boy stood, the girl closed the distance between them.
At the sight, Jin crossed her mind. Her smile and silent wishing of happiness for the couple disappeared, replacing with a frown. No, they weren't still dating or anything, but she knew she felt at least something for him. The question was, however, if he liked her back or not.
Was it really a liking? Or just a limerence?
