Mistaken

Chapter #45

Author's PoV :

"I knew everything." - Hoseok.

"What was that?" Momo broke away from Hoseok's embrace with wide eyes, making him smile at her. "Someone's on the door, I'll get it." He kissed her forehead before walked over to the door. Just as he unlocked it, he was met with an enraged Jungkook.

Jungkook's dark eyes gazed into his confused ones, and the younger boy stepped in without permission, pushing Hoseok out of the way. "Why? Why did you do that to me?" Jungkook kept on pushing him until Hoseok held his wrists, stopping him.

"Kook what the hell?"

"You've made my life hell!" Jungkook spat harshly at his hyung, whom he had never even dared to raise his voice at. Hoseok was visibly surprised, but he was patient enough to wait to hear what all this was about.

"What is it?" He asked again when Jungkook was wordlessly staring at him. "Spill it, Jungkook." Hoseok was warning him and Jungkook knew that. He might be calm and collected all the time, but with Jungkook, it was always different.

Hoseok and Jungkook had never known what crossing a line in an argument meant, because they had never had a huge fight, and the sole reason to that was Hoseok's chill and laid back nature which prevented Jungkook from questioning his doings.

But now that Hoseok wasn't even aware of what his mistake was, he couldn't bear to stay quiet and let Jungkook freely insult him. "You knew! You knew it all, and you still dared!" Jungkook had lowered his voice now, but that didn't change the coldness in his words.

"Jungkook, this is the last time I'm asking you to explain what happened." Hoseok glared at the slightly taller one, who looked away as he licked his lips, calming himself down.

"You want an explanation? Fine, but first tell me what Lisa is doing here?" Jungkook inquired sharply. "She's on the vacation with Taehyung." Hoseok replied as a matter-of-fact, crossing his arms.

"No hyung, I don't want to hear that either, I also want an explanation. You told Taehyung to bring Lisa here, and then you asked me to come here with you as well even when I didn't know that they were coming here. Why? Why did you do that to me?" Jungkook cleared out.

Hoseok silently looked at him, taking his time to think about what he had to say for that. "What do you feel about Irene?" He asked him, making him feel like his previous words were useless and that his feelings meant nothing to Hoseok.

"Hyung don't answer my question with another question--"

"I asked, what do you feel about Irene?"

Jungkook let out a huff at the glare Hoseok was giving him. "She's fine." He said dryly, his face blank. 

"No, I want a real answer Jungkook. What do you think about her? Do you like her? If so, then tell me" 

"I'm not sure, I honestly don't know." 

"Alright then, have it." Hoseok took a deep breath before he launched the story.

"I knew everything, okay? And I did everything on purpose. Though I didn't think you'd meet Lisa this soon, but let's put that aside. I asked Taehyung to talk with his and her parents and when he told me that their parents had engaged them, I knew what I had to do"

"You're happy with Irene, aren't you? I did this because I wanted you to realize that you and Lisa could never be together. She's destined with Taehyung, not you. She has a future secured with him, what about you? He's the heir of the company and is already working, what do you do?"

"You're not working, you don't even want to. Then could you have given Lisa the future she now has with Taehyung?" Hoseok's questions spit like acid on Jungkook's pride. The said boy was dumbfoundedly silent, not having an answer to any of the questions.

"Exactly, Jungkook. Maybe dating her could have worked out, but I know Lisa, she was always looking for someone who would commit, and that someone was Taehyung. She had known from the beginning that Taehyung could be her life partner."

"Why do you think she didn't break up with him? Even when they had misunderstandings, they worked out. Why? Because Taehyung always gave her a reason to, and that's what has kept them together. When they were drifting apart regarding their future, Taehyung started working and brought his father's company to a better point."

"He did that for her."

"What have you done for her?" Hoseok smiled bitterly, making Jungkook flinch.
