Author out. (gently places mic on the ground and walks backwards into the shadows to watch like a creep)

Siyabonga

After Crystal left I took my food and ate silently, the room was quiet as we all ate. No matter the situation, I learnt that here at the Johnston's household when you eat, you eat in silence.

"Bafo" Xola called out

I looked at him in question

"Usushadile manje. Kuyo le viki elizayo kuzoba umshado wesintu. Usuready yini? (Your married now. In this coming week it will be the traditional wedding. Are you ready?)"

I took a while to answer, "Angazi bhuti kodwa kudala ngilindele ukumshada ngeke ngikulahle konke lokho (I don't know brother but I've been waiting to marry her for a long time and I won't throw all of that away)"

"Haai chaa ndodana I can see that you love her truly. Not man would wait so long (Oh no son...)" Mr Johnson senior said.

I looked down out of respect but also to hide my smile. It meant a lot coming from him because he never showed signs of approval when it came to our relationship. After we finished eating the conversation carried on.

"Babakhe, may I please have a word" Crystal's mother said to her father, I could tell that something was wrong because she looked so panicked. I stood up and took the glasses to the kitchen since the plates were taken by Crystal's cousins. One in particular didn't like me, I could tell and judging by the nasty and harsh looks she sent my way, I could tell its Milicent. How nice.

"Ngiyabuya bhuti ngisafuna umoya (I'll be back, I want some air)" I said to Xola who was in a conversation with Jacob, Millicent's older brother. He, compared to her was a calm one.

I walked out to the backyard and as I was walking, I received a call

"Ya"

"Is that how you respond to your woman Siya" the shrill annoying voice said

"*sigh* Amanda ufunani?"

"I miss you and your son misses you too"

"You don't want me to spend time with my son and yet you say he misses me! Ungalinge ungicasule( don't anger me)!"

"See! This, this is why I don't want my son around you Siyabonga! Your anger issues and your work! I don't want my son around that kind of environment" she shouted.

If there's anything in the world I hate, its shouting. Be civilized no matter how mad you are because when I start shouting, I won't stop!

"Uyangirasela mfazi ndini! And what do you mean my work! You do what I do, even worse on your side!"

"Its not the same!" She shouted

"Shout at me one more time and I swear I'll put a bullet through that thick skull of yours jeerses!"

She kept quiet

"Now! I will come see my son on Monday. I've got a busy day tomorrow" I sighed

"Come after 3 pm because his school will be out by then"
