I walk down to the museum, and go inside and purchase my ticket. I think back to the old Whitney museum which sat on the other side of the city. It was made of concrete, so the whole place felt stark and cold, but this new building, though still made of concrete, feels more open and inviting.

I spend a couple of hours walking through the exhibits, my favorite one being an exhibit of acrylic paintings from the 60s and 70s. The colors are vibrant and exciting, and I just find myself visually attracted to it all.

I have a bit more time before the event starts, so I decide to get a small bite to eat at the café. I buy myself a sandwich, and take it to a small area to enjoy while looking out the window.

I hear an announcement over the speaker that the museum will be closing soon, and that all guests will need to start making their way to the exit. Once I finish my sandwich, I walk up to the information desk and ask the woman standing there where I should go if I am working the event that is after hours. She instructs me to go to the top floor of the building and down a short hallway, that leads to an office room and says that it's where my boss should be shortly. And that if I want, while I wait, I can get a drink at the bar that's on the level below.

I take the elevator up to the top floor to see if my boss has gotten there yet. As I walk down the hallway, I see some people in simple, dark suits carrying lamps, wires, and other objects for lighting towards the elevator.

I think back to the conversation I had with my boss. I have no idea what type of event this is. When I reach the room that the woman told me to go into, the door is open, but it remains empty. I send a quick message to my boss to gauge his ETA.

"Hey, just wondering where I should meet you and at what time?"
I get a response back almost immediately.
"Sorry! I am running late. I will be there by 7:30PM. The event is at 8:00PM and I will meet you at the Studio Bar when I get there. Grab a drink while you're waiting. It's on me."

I sigh. I wish I had known the event was at 8:00PM. Not that it would have made a difference; I hate being late, so I would have gotten here at 7:00PM anyway, but now I really had a lot of time to kill. A drink sounded good, I just had to make sure not to drink too much. This was a work event after all.

I walk back down the hall but decide on the stairs instead of the elevator since it's only a flight down.
