A few days later Horatio leaves Zariah and her kids once again this time to go to LA to save a friend and coworkers reputation when a old wound as well as case gets questioned and somewhat reopened when a man who got away with murder almost gets away with it again.... two weeks later Kyle returns home from Afghanistan and Horatio and his family were at the airport to greet him "problem soldier boy!?!"  Zariah teases when she notices her smiling stepson's eye wander up and down her body.... and not in a sexual way.... "no.... you look really nice!"  Kyle replies with a soft chuckle in his tone "DeDi picked it out cause it's shiny!"   she tells him he chuckles Horatio shakes his head with a smile at the two of them then they all walk out of the airport Zariah, Kyle, Timothy, Deidra and Caine head to Zariah's vehicle and Horatio heads to his Hummer which was parked next to her vehicle.... he brought it just in case he got called in even though he specifically asked for this day off.... and they head to breakfast at a restaurant nearby.... while at the restaurant they all chatted happily pretty much ignoring "war talk" Zariah ended up getting up and walking either herself or her children to the bathroom whenever they needed to go.... even though they were potty trained they were too young to go by themselves.... Zariah was just returning from her "potty break".... which also gave Horatio some time alone with his son.... she watches as a smirking Kyle flirts with the blonde waitress with his eyes as he takes a piece of bacon off of Horatio's plate that she was picking up off the table to take back to the kitchen she smiles softly when she hears Horatio say as the waitress walks away from the table as Kyle's eyes continue to watch her as she leaves "subtle"  Kyle replies "yeah, well, 12 month tour in Basra will do that to you, I guess you know, I think she likes me"  Zariah chuckles softly as Horatio says "I think it's the uniform"  Kyle replies "yeah, more like the man wearing it"  Zariah walks over to the table and slides her fingers along Horatio's shoulders as she teases softly "did I just see you checking the waitress out!?!"  Kyle chuckles Horatio smiles as she walks behind him and sits in her chair he slides his hand over her thigh and coos with a low sultry tone "I only have eyes for you Sweetheart!"  he leans forward to kiss her lips but stops when she teases with a smile "I think we've embarrassed the poor soldier enough Ratio!"  Kyle waves his hands at the two of them and says "no by all means go ahead!"  she looks at him and says "alright cover their eyes for them would you!?!"  Kyle chuckles then places his hands in front of his half sister and brothers eyes as a smiling Horatio kisses his smiling wife's lips "it's good to see you"  Horatio says as he turns his attention to his son once more "good to see you too dad, all of you!"  Kyle replies with a nod after a small pause he says "look.... there, uh, there's something I've been meaning to tell you dad"   Zariah slides her hand over her husbands thigh as Kyle continues "it has to do with the meeting down at Sothern Command earlier me and some, uh, some infantry buddies, we transferred over to 19th Mountain Division we're slated to deploy from Fort Gordon in 14 days"  Horatio asks "deploy to where?"  Kyle replies "Eastern Afghanistan"  Horatio cups his wife's hand that has yet to leave his thigh as he lets out a short soft chuckle Zariah looks over at her husband and whispers "Ratio!"  he turns and looks at her with a slightly forced smile on his face "it's his choice Ratio! his life! and though you might not be happy that he didn't consult you first....!"  she starts his soft smile becomes more real as it shines a little brighter at her words he could hear the concern in her soft tone and he squeezes her hand gently "I know you worry for his safety but....!"  she says softly but doesn't get to finish for his lips meet hers once more as though he was trying to shut her up so he didn't have to listen to the sadness in her concerned tone what he loved the most was that her concern was for both of them and the love that poured from that concern for the both of them she excepted Kyle from the moment he knew he was his and he was grateful for that Kyle's phone vibrates and Horatio says to his son "you better get that"  Kyle digs through his pocket and takes out his phone then answers it "what's up Mace?"  Zariah takes the check as the waitress brings it over Horatio tries to take it from her but she already got out her wallet and handed the blonde woman the money and tip before she (the waitress) walked away again as Kyle says into his phone "yeah, yeah, I'm just having breakfast with my family right now what's up? no, I haven't talked to him but, yeah, he said he wanted to go"  Zariah looks at Kyle with a slightly confused expression on her face "yeah, yeah, I'll swing by right now all right all right bye"  Kyle says into his phone as he smiles at his stepmom when he sees the concern in her eyes then he hangs up "everything okay?"  Horatio asks "yeah, some of my buddies were headed over to the marina earlier nobody can get ahold of my friend Brian it's really weird this is usually not like him"  Kyle replies "you need a lift?"  Horatio asks "yeah that'd be cool thanks dad"  Kyle replies then he looks at his stepmom and says "sorry"  she smiles and replies "it's not a problem one we're used to it and two it isn't like he can keep you forever!"  Kyle chuckles then leans over the table and kisses her cheek then he kisses his half brother and sisters foreheads and pets Caine's head before standing up and walking away with a worried gait Horatio smiles at the two of them then he kisses his wife's lips and his youngest children's foreheads then pets Caine's head and follows Kyle to his Hummer....
