Caine became a official babysitter of a child beauty pageant girl when her mother is killed and Horatio and his team become the ones who's sole focus is finding her killer then he (Caine) became a shield for another young girl who was kidnapped by the pageant director's husband so she didn't have to see anymore of the bad things that were happening to her when Horatio took him with him and Natalia to find her as soon as Caine saw the bad man pull a gun out and point it at the young girl he lunged and bit the mans wrist making him drop the gun once he let go of the mans wrist he growls and the man crawls backwards and runs away picking the gun back up as he runs and Horatio follows him Caine wasn't sure if he should stay with the child or follow his daddy till he heard Horatio say "protect!"  and he stayed with Natalia and the young lady who couldn't have been too much older than his little human sister he cautiously walks over to the girl who hides her head in his fur as she cries and Natalia tries to find a way to unlock the chains from the girls wrists and ankles once the little girl was free he follows her and Natalia who picked her up out of the theatre.... "why would someone spend so much money making their little girls into porcelain Barbie dolls and parade them in front of strangers!?! this is like free candy for pedophiles as if the internet wasn't bad enough hopefully Deidra doesn't want to do this!"  Zariah whispers to herself "as if you would let her!"  Ryan says with a chuckle and a smile in his tone from behind her she turns around and replies "if she truly wanted to yes! but I would never force her like so many of these mothers do all that wasted money just for a little attention it's sickening!"  he agrees "yes it is!"  and they walk out of the Crime Lab to go meet Horatio, Natalia and Caine who had just returned after saving the kidnapped young girl.... a week later Zariah stands behind her husband massaging his shoulders as they and their children who are sitting on his lap talk with Kyle once again through video conference she knew how hard it was for him not to be near his family and that he feels like he's missing out on so much when it comes to the son he didn't find out he had until that young man was a teenager life and now he's missing out on so much more but he never lied he IS proud of Kyle it's just heart wrenchingly painful to not be able to be there for him when he'll need him the most and with Kyle fighting in one of the many wars that never should have had to have been fought it's one of the hardest things to have to watch from the sidelines especially since he can't see it all and be there to protect him from the pain everyone knows war brings and all she wished to do was be able to take the pain he feels every time he's reminded of how far away they are from his eldest son but there was nothing other than the young mans return for good that could do that she knew he was holding onto more pain than just that the pain of past wrongs that had already in their own way been made right but have yet to fully leave the knowledge that his job makes him many enemies and once they find out that Memmo failed in killing her she and their children will become their main target to add to the pain he already feels what makes it worse is that she refuses to cower and hide and yet she still finds a way to protect their children from every bit of darkness his line of work brings into their life by allowing them to see nothing but the light he emits into their world.... a month later Zariah, her children and pup help Calleigh watch over Austin North at the Crime Lab Calleigh introduces them to him before heading back to work and leaving him in a empty Interrogation Room Horatio watched his family have fun with a familiar looking boy with a smile on his face before heading back to work himself when Calleigh came back to ask Austin some questions Zariah and her family leave the room then return when she's done so that Austin was not alone and/or bored.... "want to play a round of tennis!?!"  Horatio teasingly asks his wife once the case had ended playing with how she usually finds something to do after a case that fits the case he just solved "why!?! you know how to play!?!"  she asks with a smile "you mean you don't know how!?!"  he asks she shakes her head then says "Jesse taught me how to fly, Eric taught me how to scuba dive, Calleigh taught me how to ride a horse, Alexx gave me some medical knowledge Tim's the only one that never taught much of anything but no I never learned tennis I'm not much of a sports nut anyway!"  he chuckles "I just want to spend time with my family I don't care what we do!"  she says he wraps his arm around her waist and kisses her lips then says "me either!"  instead of playing a game of tennis Zariah, Timothy, Deidra, Caine, Horatio and his team end up watching Austin have a small tennis tournament with his fellow tennis trainees to show what they had learned....
