Liza pov

He sighs and walks out of the room.

I know he's just trying to keep me safe, but he needs to let me live my life. And what does Jaden know? Who does he think he is, talking about my Marley like he knew him? He doesn't know anything. And why did Landon tell him? He had no right doing so without consulting me first.

He was right. It's his story to tell as well. He doesn't need to run everything by you first.

Yes he fucking does. If it involves my Marley, I get the final say. Why is it any of Jaden's business anyway? Exactly, it's not.

But Marley was never yours. He was your friend, but he was also Landon's. You both have an equal right to tell his story. Besides, you were passed out. How's he supposed to ask you if you're unconscious?

Fuck off.

"Liza?" A voice called, breaking me from my thoughts.

"What? Oh yeah. Sorry." I smiled sheepishly at the two boys stood in front of me.

"You okay to go over thi-"

"Land, I'm fine. It's not my first time doing this kind of thing. Let's get started." I laughed as I sat back and opened the can of coke he gave me.

They both gave me a weary look, which made me roll my eyes. I leaned forward and snatched the sheet of lyrics out of Landon's hand. I lifted my feet and rested them on the coffee table as I read over the lyrics.

"If you're both just going to stand there looking at me like a piece of china about to break, I will just leave." I warned, not looking up from the paper.

Almost in an instant, Landon sat down, knowing I was serious. Jaden followed suit afterwards. Sitting down next to Landon. I looked between them both expectantly, waiting for one of them to talk.

"Are either of you going to speak? Or are you just going to keep staring at me?" I asked, still looking between them.

"Liza, I really don't think-"

"Landon Asher Barker. You dragged my ass out of bed at seven in the goddamn morning for something I still haven't been told about in full. My patience is starting to run thin with you so I suggest you start talking soon." I warned again.

"You've read through the song right?" Jaden asked since Landon was busy sending me daggers.

"Yes." I answered.

"Would you be down to duet it?" He prodded again.

"Sure. I'd be down." I shrugged.

"Great. Jaden, get inside there and then we can start recording." Landon instructed as he opened the door to the booth.

"Wait, we're gonna record today?"

"Liza likes to get things done quickly. She doesn't like to dwell on projects. So yes. We're recording today. I know your part comes second in the song, but I think it's be easier since you know the rhythm, that you do it first and then we can just edit the clips together afterwards." He explained.

"Makes sense." Jaden agreed, before walking into the booth.

"He's right you know?" Landon mumbled when the door shut.

"About what Landon?" I sighed, knowing what he's going to say next.

"Lizzie, I don't want you to end up like Marley. I can't lose you too. Do you even know what that shit was laced with?" He asked, turning to me.

I stayed silent, because truth be told, I have no fucking clue what was in that joint. All I knew was that I needed a quick fix to stop the memories from coming back and my body is so used to weed that it doesn't work as a single component anymore.

"Exactly. Lize, you are killing yourself, and I can't watch you do that." He pleaded.

"But he had no fucking right talking about Marley like that. He never knew him. So why was his name in his fucking mouth?" I spat.

"Lize, we went over this. He was talking about Marley because I was talking to him about Marley. I know Jaden never knew him, I know that. But that doesn't stop me from telling him who Marley was. And he's absolutely right. If you keep going the way that you are, you are going to be the next person I see lying on the floor with foam at the mouth and a bottle of pills. I can't do that." He spat back.

I dropped silent. I didn't want him to be scared to lose me because he's not going to. Marley wanted to leave, and made sure he took enough to do so. I don't want to leave. I just want enough to numb the pain. I know how much my body can take, and I know how much is too far for me to cope with.

My mind racing with thoughts was cut off by Jaden coming out of the booth. I stood up and made my own way into the booth to sing my part. I felt my phone vibrate, but thought nothing of it at first and continued to sing. When I finished and the music had cut off, I pulled out my phone to see a message from an unknown number.

I really need to see you. Starbucks in 20?

I sighed, knowing that any extra time I wanted to spend here was cut short. I put my phone back in my pocket and walked out.

"That was great Liza." Landon smiled.

"Bro, that was better than great. You've pretty much carried the song." Jaden psyched pretty much straight away.

"As sweet as that is, you shouldn't down play yourself. With your vocal range on the song, that will be the things bigger artists pay attention to. Not me." I laughed as I collected my stuff.

"You going already?" Landon asked me.

"Uh, yeah. Something came up and I've gotta go meet someone real quick. Ik message you when I'm done and if you're still here, I'll come back." I shrugged.

"If you smell like sex you better shower first." He laughed.

"Ha ha. Very funny." I rolled my eyes and walked out.
