Liza pov
"Come on, quick. We've gotta make sure no one sees us." I quickly grabbed his hand and pulled him down the trail.
"Liza, be careful. I don't wanna fucking drop these and have one accidentally set off." He panicked, yanking his hand out of mine and supporting the box he was holding.
"Jaden, they're fireworks. They can't be set off without ignition. But fine, I won't pull you. You still gotta hurry up though cause I don't want anyone seeing. It's supposed to be a surprise." I compromised.
"It's hard to go fast when you're holding a heavy box full of fucking fireworks." He shot back. I held back my laugh as I continued to guide him down the trail.
He was holding the fireworks that we had bought for the surprise at the wedding later today. Landon, Colson, Jaden and I had gone ahead to the venue in order to make sure everything had gone to plan. Jaden and I had gotten an earful when we got here because we were late.
In our defence, it wasn't our fault. The guy at the fireworks store wouldn't sell us the fireworks until we showed ID. He didn't want to believe that both of us were over the age of eighteen and so wouldn't give us what we had ordered. It actually took Jaden having to drive all the way back to his house, which was half an hour in the opposite direction of where we needed to go, and getting his ID in order to get them.
Now we're making our way down to the spot I found where we can set them off. I made him carry the box because there was no way I was going to do it, that bitch is fucking heavy.
"Oh thank god." He groaned when we got to the clearing, putting the box down safely on the rocks.
"Yeah, yeah. Quit your whining, we've gotta put it all out now." I laughed as he rolled his eyes at me.
The next twenty minutes more so consisted of trying to get Jaden to put the fireworks in the right order. There was a certain order they needed to be put in in order for them to perfect when they release.
"Liza, they look the exact fucking same. How am I meant to tell the difference?" He sighed as I corrected him again for the seventh time.
"Turn them upside down. There's a colour mark on each one. The order up the sides go red, green, purple and orange." I answered him.
"Why am I the only one out of us two doing this? It's fucking 78 degrees and you're out here doing a lot of demands, and not a lot of helping. I'm fucking sweating." He groaned, rubbing his head in frustration.
"I'm doing the big one in the middle. I just need you to organise the side ones first so I can see how much room I actually have to do those ones." I explained as he nodded with an eye roll. "Look, I promise it's not going to be very long. You've got that side sorted. I just need you to do the other side and then I'll do the rest. I'll link up the fuses and all that." I assured as I placed our all the others for him to do.
The other side took a lot less longer than the first. He was quicker and it was a lot easier for him to see the order when he actually turned them upside down.
"Go and sit in the shade. I should've brought drinks out here with us. There's just a little I've got to do and then we can go back." I explained once he had finished.
While he was sat cooling down in the shade, I took off my top shirt and started to work on the big firework. I was almost finished with it when I heard someone's voice come from behind.
"What the fuck have you two been doing? I've been trying to call you for ages." Landon's voice echoed.
"Uh, we were- well- uh-. What am I doing? Am I still going to try and spin him a lie or what?" I could tell how fried his brain was getting. The exhaustion mixed with the amount of mental stress he's been under probably isn't helping it much.
"Just tell him the truth babe." I thought it'd be easier on his part of he didn't have to lie.
"Thank god." He sighed.
I allowed those two to talk about everything that was going on here while I finished off the big fireworks and linked them all up to one big spark line. I stood up properly, cracking my back as I did so before walking over to Landon and Jaden who were still sat in the shade.
"Liza, I think it's such an amazing idea what you two have done. Seriously, they're going to love it when they find out." Landon praised as I sat down on Jaden's knee, his hand immediately holding my waist.
"I know. That's why I planned it all." I laughed. "Oh, actually, now that you're in on it, you can help. I need you to get them out of the venue. Obviously it's all inside, but we need them outside so they can see it. You can help with that." I stated, peaking his interest.
"Sure, what do you need?"
"Basically, I'm going to message you after our performance. Obviously once we've sung, we'll leave and I'll message you when we get here. Then I'll need you to get everyone out and onto the grass. Once at least Kourt and T are out, message me and then we'll set the fireworks off accordingly. I was going to have him stay back and do it, but I'm gonna need him here to set them off with me." I explained as he nodded along.
"Yeah, that's fine I can do that. Easy." He shrugged.
"But you cannot tell anyone. It's between us three and that's it. No one else can know." I warned.
"You want me to pinky swear?" He mocked, holding out his pinky finger playfully.
"Oh I'm gonna-"
"No don't." He laughed as he ran off with me chasing him.
