Jaden pov
I don't know why, but when she explained that Ridgeway was Marley's last name, I felt a pit in my stomach. I'm seriously getting jealous of a dead guy. I know that Liza and him had a connection or what have you, but they were never anything official. So why am I getting jealous over the way she talks about him?
I guess I'm just scared that she'll never be fully over him, and in the long run, that's going to affect my relationship with her. And these thoughts are why I'm still awake, with Liza half lying on top of me, her hair still partially damp.
I don't know why, but it bothered me so much when she didn't dry her hair. I don't mind her hair being damp, or even wet, but the uncomfortable feeling that I got coursing through my body when I watched her pull on her shirt and sweats with fully dripping hair just made me want to restrain her until I had dried her hair.
We had a full on ten minute conversation as to why I needed to break up with her because of that, which just ended up in both of us laughing. Which then turned into me fucking her senseless before we fell asleep, but that's neither here nor there.
I needed to walk around or get my mind to start doing something rather than just sitting here because otherwise my ADHD was going to make me start shouting as a way to entertain myself. I didn't want to do that because I didn't want to wake Liza or anyone else there was in the house.
I had managed to wriggle my way out of Liza's grip, hearing her whine slightly in her sleep when I did, only for her to be silenced by me placing the pillow I was leaning against, next to her. I made my way out of her room and down the hall to the kitchen. I nearly fucking jumped out of my skin when I saw a woman standing there with a cup of hot chocolate in her hands.
"Jesus Christ." I mumbled, rubbing my eyes, trying to make sure I wasn't seeing anything.
"I am real Jaden. You don't need to pretend you are crazy." She laughed, making me even more confused.
"How do you know my name?" I asked her, which just made her laugh a little more. What's so funny?
"Because we've met before. I just remember faces well. Let's start this over; hi, I'm Vanessa." She introduced, holding her hand out for me to shake.
"You're elevator lady. The one who kept trying to talk to me at six in the morning?" I asked, shaking her hand briefly.
"Yes. That was me." She confirmed, going back to her hot chocolate.
"Genuine question, are you nocturnal? Also, are you and Finn together?" I questioned, grabbing a bottle of water from the fridge and sitting on the counter.
"Out of those two questions, which do you deem more important?" She asked, a slight giggle in her voice.
"Definitely the nocturnal one. If there was anything going on with Finn I'd find out from Liza sooner or later. They tell her almost everything." I answered.
"Well, no. I'm not nocturnal as such. I travel a lot between here and Scotland, because of my parents. I just got back from a trip there so my body clock is still working British times rather than American." She explained.
"There you are. I wondered where you we- Oh. Hi Jaden." Finn spoke as they emerged from the hall.
"Hey Finn." I replied, sipping my water.
"Your phone was going off by the way. I know it wasn't Liza's because she has some annoying ass ringtone." They mentioned, making me nod.
"I'll go see who that is then." I stated, getting up and walking away. Thank god I had an excuse to leave.
I walked back in to see Liza talking to someone on the phone. I'm assuming she answered my phone because it was a black phone held to her ear rather than a red one, like the one she has.
"No. Colson, we just fell asleep." She gritted. So it was Colson.
I walked over and took the phone from her ear, putting the call on hold. I placed the phone down on the table, ignoring the glare she was giving me.
"Just go back to sleep. I'll sort out whatever he wants and then I'll come back." I could tell she was getting angry because the phone woke her up.
"Fine. But hurry up." She reluctantly agreed, reaching over and turning off the light.
"I will." I pressed a light kiss to her lips before picking up the phone and walking out onto the balcony.
"Liza? Where the fuck did you-"
"Hey Colson." I spoke quietly, knowing I left the door open.
"Why the fuck are you sleeping with Liza?" He almost screamed at me.
"Woah, calm down. I'm not sleeping with Liza." I lied. "Well I am, but not in that way. Look, we were hanging out watching movies at her apartment and we fell asleep." I lied again.
"You shouldn't be hanging out with her as much. She's going to end broken hearted by the end of it." He stated. Ouch.
"Yeah, cool. Is there a reason you are calling me at three in the morning?" I asked, wanting this conversation to be over, feeling the tiredness start to build up.
"Yeah there was. You've been invited to the VMA's. Because you were in the votes for Push Performance of the year, you've been invited to the VMA's. I was calling to confirm your invitation and the date." He explained.
"That's great. Thanks for letting me know. Uh, can I stop by the studio at some point tomorrow for the rest of the details? I kinda need to sleep soon." I half yawned down the phone.
"Millennials." I could hear the eye-roll down the phone. "Yeah that's fine. Don't you dare hurt Lizzie." He threatened.
"I don't plan to." I replied, taking the phone away from my ear and hanging up.
I walked back into the room to see Liza sat up, staring at the door, waiting for me to come back. I made my way over, placing my phone back onto the side and climbing into the bed. I leaned down and grabbed her hips, pulling her so the she was now laying down properly, her hips meeting mine.
"Oh." She laughed, lying back properly.
I moved my body down, lying in between her open legs. I wrapped my arms around her waist and laid my head on her chest. Her hands made her way to my hair as she lightly ran her nails across my scalp.
"What did he want?" She asked, my head vibrating from her voice.
"I'll tell you in the morning. Just go to sleep." I answered.
