Liza pov
"Hello?" I asked, my voice raspy as hell from having just woken up.
"Lizzie?" His voice broke. Oh no.
"Jaden? What's up? Why are you awake? It's two in the morning." I asked, sitting up and leaning over to pull on some sweatpants.
"Shit. You're right. I'm sorry, you can go back to sleep." He rambled, his voice breaking more and more as he did so.
"What? No, no, I'm not going to do that. You're fine. Just, tell me what's wrong." I tried to persuade as I was already walking outside the apartment to the elevator with my keys in hand after writing a quick note to Finn in case I was still gone when their flight landed.
"I don't know what's wrong. Everything's just a little bit blurry right now." He answered, not sounding properly with it.
"What have you taken Jae?" I can hear it in his words that he's taken something, I just need to figure out what.
"You know butterfly's are my favourite animal?" He asked.
"Really?" I was nearly at his house, so as long as I kept him talking I'll be fine.
"Yeah. They're so pretty and small. Kind of like you. You're really pretty, and you're really small. Well, not like a butterfly small, because they can fit in the palm of my hand. But you're small too. I can carry you around like a little baby all day." His little giggle made me want to laugh, but a part of me was more worried for what he's taken and how much of it he's taken.
"Thank you baby."
I was literally walking up the stairs when he hung up the phone. I used the spare key he gave me and opened the door, groaning when almost every light was on the house, telling me I was going to have to hunt for him.
"Oh god. Hey Juice." I laughed as the dog started barking and jumping up at me. "Where's your daddy? Come on, go find him. Take me to Jaden." He seemed to understand my command pretty well and started on the quest to find my boyfriend.
It didn't take long though when I found him upstairs laying on the floor next to his bed. There was a spilt bottle of pills on the floor next to him and I could feel my heart drop. I picked up the bottle and tried to read the label, but it was torn over the name so I have no fucking clue what he's on right now.
"Hey Jaden?" I clicked my fingers over his face to try and get his attention.
"Hi Liza." He choked out, his eyes red. I can't tell if it's from crying or the drugs, but he doesn't smell like weed so I don't think it's the pills.
"What happened baby? Talk to me." I asked as I put the cap on the pill bottle and slumped down next to him.
"I- I don't know." He sobbed out. "I was just writing a while ago a-and I got a phone call." He kept stopping and starting between his sentences. I couldn't tell if it was because he didn't want to remember what had happened, or if he physically couldn't remember. "My friend overdosed again." He cried as his head leant on my shoulder.
"I'm so sorry baby. But he's at the hospital right?" I felt him nod against me. "So he's in good hands. They're gonna be able to take care of him." I tried to assure him as more of his tears dropped onto my lap.
"I just want him to be okay." He cried.
"He will be, I promise, he'll be fine."
A few minutes of silence passed. Every now and then he would sniffle or let out a staggered breath, but the air was silent. Until he started laughing and giggling.
"Jaden, how many of those pills did you take?" I asked, making him shrug before answering.
"I don't know. Like six or seven. I wanted to go and see my friend." He tried to overdose himself.
"Okay, come on. Stand up." He's not going to enjoy what I have to do next.
"Why?" He whined, doing what I asked anyway and following me into the bathroom. "No, no, no, no. I don't want you to do that." And the penny drops.
"No, come on. It's going to make you feel so much better. Please baby. I promise, just do this for me, then you can shower and we can sleep. But you need to do this first." He needs to throw it up.
"Please don't make me Lizzie."
His begging made me want to cry. I know how much he hates throwing up, but there's no way I can get around this. If I leave those pills to sit for too long he's going to overdose. If he hasn't started already. So this is the only way.
"I'm so sorry baby."
The look he gave me told me he knew he wasn't getting out of it. I knew he was going to fight me on every step of the process, but if it helped him, I didn't care. He reluctantly walked over and sat down in front of the toilet. I sat down behind him and spread my legs so they were on either side of his hips.
"Please Jaden, I need to do this." I stated as he refused to open his mouth.
"It's fucking gross Lizzie. I'll be fine." He tried to argue.
"I'd rather have your fucking vomit on my fingers then have to rush you to the hospital. I've done it before and I can't lose you too. You can gag yourself if you really want to. But one way or another, you're not leaving this bathroom until you throw up whatever the fuck you've taken." I gave him an ultimatum he wasn't going to be allowed to refuse.
I know he wouldn't do it himself, he avoids it at all costs. I knew I had won when he let out a deep sigh and closed his eyes. Now comes the part I know he's going to have the biggest problem with.
