"Sam. Wake up. Your brother's here to pick you up." Anthony was touching my forehead and slowly rubbing my arm trying to wake me. "Come on bro," he said, "wake up your brother is waiting."
"Five more minutes," I mumbled.
"Sam, it's midnight and as much as I love watching you sleep; I need my bed bro." Anthony said jokingly. "Besides I'm sure you don't want to wake up to Alex making us breakfast tomorrow morning."
I began sitting up and yawned. He's right I don't want to see that ass tomorrow, or at all. "Yeah, yeah. I'll be out of your hair one second."
"It's all cool bro, I just don't your brother to be mad." He stood up and stretched. "See you out there and Alex left. I didn't want you both to wake the whole the house."
I nodded my head. I was so ready to tear that kid's head off. Like seriously I thought he liked me. The time he kissed me in the rain and the street lights went out. Or the time we sat in my car singing to random songs on my iPod. My favorite memory was the morning we went on a double date to Margo's for breakfast with my friends Kateli and Eric. We looked so good together everyone said. I thought we looked so good together. But he thought otherwise.
I stood up and my body screamed in pain. What did I do? Fall down a cliff? Nope my head said otherwise. I got hit by a train. As I made it out the door and down the hallway I could hear the muffled talk of my brother and Anthony. And apparently it was a hot topic too because they were speaking fast.
"No, Alex left Sam for his ex and that's what made Sam has his mental break down." Anthony whispered. "No, I don't think he's over reacting because Alex can be an ass and this is one of his moments."
"Seriously, I can't believe Sam went ape shit." Shane replied in disgust.
"Shane, it's his first heartbreak. He was really into Alex, but Alex didn't make his feelings clear. Mixed signals bro, it's understandable." Anthony replied defensively.
"Either Sam is over reacting. He shouldn't be making this all about him. He always does that." Shane said indignantly. "I can't believe he dragged you into this. He always does this."
"I understand where you're coming from, but he's needs a shoulder to cry on and you know me. I don't leave anybody hanging and you should be nice to him. He's really hurt." Anthony replied compassionately.
"Hey guys," I said, "ready to go Shane?"
"About time," Shane replied, "See ya later Anthony. Thanks for looking after him."
"No problem bro" Anthony reached in for hug, "it's gonna be alright Sam." He said as he hugged me.
"Thanks Antoine," I said and embraced him as a tear formed at the corner of my eye.
"Aww you called me by my nickname," Anthony said with a huge grin.
"Let's go," Shane interrupted. He can be such an ass.
"Alright see ya later guys." Anthony replied as he let me go. He was such a good friend.
"Yeah see ya later." I said.
And that was that. I opened the back door and Shane pushed past me grumbling about how ridiculous this is. I sometimes wonder if he ever is happy, or if he was always caught up in his world. I made my way to the car and clouds seemed to feel my pain, because it began to drizzle. Shane shoved my door open and demanded to get in and yelled lets go. His heavy metal was already blasting and I couldn't imagine how anyone could listen to this. So I turned up my headphones and hit shuffle. Of course the first phrase I heard when Shane turned down his music as a cop passed by was...
How wonderful life is. While you're in my world.
