"Let's go to the beach." Mopey said while he kind of half fell, half tripped, onto his mattress.
"No money." I replied.
"How about we investigate the town" James said with excitement. "Like look for things people haven't found, uncover secrets that are meant to be hidden, or reveal places that have yet to be discovered." If you haven't caught on James is kind of an adventurer of sorts. That's why we love him.
"That sounds fun, but how do we do that?" I said pre-cautiously. "We have lived here all our life and you would think we found something by now." You see we've had quite a few adventures ourselves that we don't want to repeat.
"Let's start with just hittin' the streets. The stories in books aren't planned. They just happen to those who have put themselves in those circumstances."
"So you're saying we just need to make ourselves available?" Mopey said looking a little bit confused.
"Yes." James and I replied.
"Then what are we waiting for!" Mopey said while grabbing his jacket.
"I don't know, I guess lets go." James said and he started putting on his jacket
"One sec I have to roll a few." Mopey replied.
"Hold on guys." I chimed in, my phone was ringing. "Shane's calling.
"Answer!" James said excitedly.
Shane was the like the fourth musketeer of our group, or should I say we were a package deal. I could connect with James and Mopey on an intellectual and emotional level while Shane could on their "boys" kind of way. Like video games, girls, and well... girls.
"Hello?" I answered.
"Where you at?" Shane replied.
"Mopey's. Why?" I asked inquisitively. I knew he had something in mind and I wasn't going to like it.
"Because I'm bored and I want to come over." Shane said like he didn't care if I wanted him to come over or not.
"Does he want to come over?" Mopey butted in.
"Yes." I answered.
"Tell him to come over!" James exclaimed. "More the merrier!"
"Am I coming over or not." Shane said.
"Yes, yes you are. Come on over." I replied feeling completely overwhelmed.
"See you in 10." Shane said.
"Don't spee-" The phone line went dead. "He did not just hang up on me." I thought to myself.
"Good, I have enough time to roll my cigarettes." Mopey said with content as he settled back down to his roller.
"You have a serious problem." I said going back to Facebook. Ten likes on my status about hanging out with the boys. Not bad.
"Do you have a problem with how I'm living my life?" Mopey asked.
"No, just making an observation." I smartly replied.
"A very obvious observation" James chimed in.
"You guys-"
"Are the best." I said cutting Mopey off.
"What do you guys want to do when Shane gets here? Put our adventure on hold?" James asked.
"You know what we're going to do." I said.
"What is that?" Mopey cockily replied.
"He's gonna get here and we're gonna step out for a smoke. Then we're gonna come back in and you guys are gonna play Yu-Gi-Oh, or video games. Most likely both. Then James is gonna get bored and leave while I just play on the computer til you guys notice I exist. By then it'll be late and we'll stay the night." I stated.
"Then let's change it up." James said so easily.
"But I like doing all those things. And I like you guys staying the night." Mopey chuckled.
"But I get bored!" I whined. "I vote adventure!"
-knock knock knock-
"Come in!" I yelled. Shane and I have been here so many times that we basically live here.
"Hey what's up?" Shane said while pounding down the stairs.
"Nothing much Shane. Missed you bro." Mopey said while standing and moving in for hug.
"What's up man." James said from his corner.
"Nothing much man. What we doing?" Shane replied.
"We don't know." I said.
"Well I do." Shane said and pulled out a bottle of Jack.
"SHANE." Mopey said in a hushed tone. "Put it away!" he grabbed the bottle and shoved it back in Shane's bag.
"Come on just a little bit bro! We're men we need to do this." He said.
"He's got a point. It's the summer. We should live it up." James said quietly. "And I'm really curious to what Jack tastes like."
We all stared at him.
"Well, I've tasted alcohol just not Jack ya know. It's not like-"
"It's okay. We get it James." I said grasping his arm.
"Cool then let's get in the car." Shane said heading out of the door.
"Where we going." James asked putting his jacket back on.
"We're going to a place where we will turn from boys to men." He replied as he shut the door.
James, Mopey, and I looked at each other.
"We wanted an adventure. We got one." I said.
"Then what are we waiting for?" Mopey asked.
"Let's go." James replied last. "It's time for the night we will remember for the rest of our lives."
