"Look at those people over there." Alex said while pointing at a couple across the street.

The girl was a blond with long, flowing, hair that was being caressed in the summer breeze. The guy with her had short brown hair being covered by a snapback. If anything this is what my friends and I would call a model couple.

"We could be them if you want. No care in the world except for a each other." Alex said while rubbing my shoulder.

I took a hit off our cig and my thoughts took me away.

We could have been, but he chose not to be. How can I trust someone that can't even keep his word? No matter how complicating the situation is.

"We could." I said and passed him the cigarette. "If you want it to be that way, but you know the ball is in your court."

"Touché" He said with his beautiful smile and exhaled the smoke.

"What's up?" A passerby said as he nodded his head.

"Not much." I replied.

"Cool, have a nice day." The stranger said as he kept trucking on by.

"People around here are so nice." Alex said with an intrigued look on his face.

"Welcome to Bravo." I just grinned and snuffed out the cig before standing up.

"Hey!" Eric said as he ran up to us. "Dammmn, you guys just smoked didn't you."

"Yeah, why?" I said with an exaggerated horror struck look on my face.

"Because I wanted too with you and now I have to be alone." He said as he was pulling out three cigarettes.

"But you aren't." Katie said as she approached us. "Because you are going to get us breakfast at Margie's before it closes."

Margie's is the local breakfast restaurant everyone goes too if you are either old, or have a hangover. It's kind of the place to be around here for us rebels, locals, or older folk.

"But I thought I-"

"No, butts Eric! Now get your butt moving. And you guys are coming with us."

"If you insist." I said with a smile.

"I'm not saying anything. I'll just follow." Alex said and he took my hand as us four made our way to the restaurant.

As we were being seated we were all talking about how the night went. And I might say this is pretty messed up, but hey I may as well share the details.

One of Kiah and Katie's friend went down on my brother while he was sleeping and you won't believe it, but it was a dude. You can say he was very mad.

The guy tried to have a threesome with Alex and I, but thank the lord I passed out before any of that happened. Nonetheless Alex pretended to sleep, because he didn't want to touch that.

Shane did puke all over the living room and we had to mop that up, but so did I a few weeks ago. Except it was on a recliner... gross.

And there was enough people there that we made a human carpet, so I may as well just say. You should have been there because it was awesome.

"Why aren't you eating your omelet?" Alex asked. His face was overcast with worry.

"I just don't feel good. I think I have to go to the bathroom." I said. I don't know why, but eggs just don't smell good while I have a hangover. Am I pregnant?

"Just go puke man. Get the alcohol out of your system. If you need to stay one more night go ahead. I don't want you to get in trouble with your parents." Eric said with a look of concern.

"Dammit!" I kind of said to loud.

"Shhhh!! And what?!" Katie said in a hushed whisper.

"I forget to check my texts earlier. Kiah interrupted my thought process and I never looked." I said while slapping my forehead like an idiot.

"Then check them now. It's not a big deal." Alex said while grabbing my hand to stop inflicting unneeded pain."

"Alright." I said.

I reached into my pocket and unlocked my phone.

I had ten text messages from various friends and one missed call.

It was from my Dad. I started listening to my voicemail and my Dad said:

"I don't know where you are. I hope you are safe. I thought I saw your car by the local bar in town. Call me back as soon as possible. I love you and I hope you are not getting hammered. If you are I will know and we will have a long talk about your priorities."

"Wow, got to love my parents." I said with sarcasm.

"Why? What's going on?" Alex asked.

"I think I'm in trouble. My dad saw my car by the bar and he thinks I'm getting hammered." I said with disgust.

"Well, you did." Katie laughed.

"He said if I was then him and I have to talk about my priorities." I said matter of factly.

"Ouch." Eric said and he winced.

"Yeah." I said.

I was so disappointed in myself. I never thought it would get this bad.

"It will get better." Alex said as he rubbed my back.

"It will?" I said gazing down at my now cold omelet.

"Its life what do you expect?" Eric said and laughed. "Look at me. I'm twenty-two and I am still trying to figure it out."

"Yeah, but you know so much." I said.

"Because of I have had twenty-two years of experience and hard-ass reality checks." He replied.

A chorus of 'true' and 'amen' came from around the table.

"Well, how about we go back and wake up the rest of the bunch. Got plans for the rest of the day and I need to figure out what to do about my parents with my brother." I said after what Eric had said sunk into my ego.

"Sounds like a plan." Katie said.

Eric paid for breakfast and as we walked back out he lit up a cigarette. He passed it to me and said, "It's gonna get better. We have a band now. And a band is family with music."

"Yeah, life is looking up." And I smiled, took a hit, and passed it back.

The sun is shining on the sidewalk, the trees shivering in the warm breeze, and life is looking up. How much more perfect can it get?
