Chirping and the noon day sun shining brightly on my eyes. I opened my tender eyes to see the IV’s were out of arms and my clothes on the extra bed.

My iPhone was by the pitcher of water with a new case on it.

‘Keep Calm and Carry On’

I love it.

“HEY, you’re awake!” Rob leaned in and kissed me. “How is my baby? Feeling better I hope!”

Wow, did someone put something in his coffee?

“I’m alright. Just a little foggy.” I said trying to keep it together. Nausea was starting to overtake me a little. “I’m feeling nauseous.”

“Yeah, the doctor said you would due to the medication. Here’s something to help with it.” He held out a little cup with some pills in it.

“Great more pills.” I thought to myself. “Well, better than vomiting everywhere, so here goes.”

And with that down the hatch they went.

“Do you need me to help you to the shower? Or did you wanna shower when we got home.” Rob asked carefully looking into my eyes.

“Home, does my family know I’m alive? OH MY GOD. HOW LONG HAS IT BEEN!?!”

“Rob, how long has it been since my family has heard about my whereabouts?” I asked slowly trying not lose it.

“Well, we’ve been all over the news. And I made a call to your house, but couldn’t get through.” He said calmly.

“Oh my God…” I held my stomach. Now I really think I’m gonna lose it.

“It’s okay. We’ll go there now. Don’t worry. Everything will be alright.” With those words he held me tightly. Calmly rubbing my back. “It’s gonna be alright. They are safe. I’m positive.”

“I know. I know.” I kept saying those two words. Knowing that they are safe is different than seeing them physically. Afterall, they are my family. And you can only do so much by telling yourself over and over that they are safe.

“So what about getting out of this hospital and going home?” He said with a smile. His eyes meant mine and it was like swimming into the sheets of the softest bed.

“Yes, let’s go.” His tree trunk arms helped me off the bed and we walked out the door, down the hallways, and into the sunlight.

Fresh air made its way into my nostrils and down to my lungs. Nature is so natural and cleansing. There is nothing that can compete with fresh air except water from the Alps.

His car was found in barricaded area and reporters were nowhere to be found thank the Lord. I could finally be at peace.

Peace, something that I am ever searching, but can never find.

Rob shifted his car into reverse and the gates slowly opened.

Home. Home is where the heart is, so why does this not feel like home?

The car tugged into drive and forward we went. We were going back to my so called home.

This is not where my heart wants to be.
